The banned alternate airing of the Invader Zim episode "Door to Door". This airing is very rare and was hard for me to find. But now it's up here for anyone to see. :)
A bit of the backstory as to why this variation was banned by Nickelodeon:
So Zim was competing against the others at Skool to sell as much poop chocolate as possible to win its "mystery prize". He had problems selling enough bars for it, and he eventually comes up with a plan to sell the candy: by using virtual reality helmets on people to show them what the future would be like if they do not buy the poop chocolate he is selling.
Viewers can see that the first family he uses the virtual reality helmets on sees the Irken army destroying New York (as indicated by the Statue of Liberty in the background). You can guess why the episode was pulled, right?
Of course you can: 9/11 happened (and the episode's original airdate would have been September 14, 2001). Obviously, this episode would be too inappropriate to show on television. The virtual reality scene had to be edited, and "Door to Door" finally premiered on March 29, 2002 in the U.S..
So you might wonder how this variation got on TV at all, right? Well, on its premiere in the U.S., it was accidentally shown instead of the edited one; the original "Door to Door" was never shown again on TV afterward. (Although, this exact variation aired in Australia as you can tell from the Nickelodeon watermark in this video; they obviously allowed the original "Door to Door" to air there.)
Uploaded this variation under fair use.
