Cosmic Radiation and the Weather
@article{Ney1959CosmicRA, title={Cosmic Radiation and the Weather}, author={Edward P. Ney}, journal={Nature}, year={1959}, volume={183}, pages={451-452}, url={https://api.semanticscholar.org/CorpusID:4157226}}THE purpose of this communication is to point out the existence of a large tropospheric and stratospheric effect produced by the solar-cycle modulation of cosmic rays. Since there is some evidence for solar-cycle correlations in the weather, the phenomena described here should be considered in attempts to understand climatological effects of solar-cycle period.

Cosmic Rays and Earth ’ s Atmospheric Processes : A review
- D. Siingh
- 2010
Physics, Environmental Science
The modulation of cosmic ray flux incident on the Earth’s upper atmosphere by solar activity results in changing the global electrical properties of the atmosphere, which is in turn believed to…
The role of cosmic rays in the Earth’s atmospheric processes
In this paper, we have provided an overview of cosmic ray effects on terrestrial processes such as electrical properties, global electric circuit, lightning, cloud formation, cloud coverage,…
Cosmic Rays and Earth's Climate
- H. Svensmark
- 2000
Physics, Environmental Science
During the last solar cycle the Earth's cloud cover underwent a modulation in phase with the cosmic ray flux. Assuming that there is a causal relationship between the two, it is expected and found…
The Impact of Solar Flares and Cosmic Rays on Atmospheric Decay
- M. Khoshyaran

Physics, Environmental Science
Aims: The objective of this paper is to introduce a Relativistic Stochastic Process that calculates the number of cosmic ray and high energy solar flare particles that enter the atmosphere. Study…
Influence of Cosmic Rays on Earth's Climate
- H. Svensmark
- 1998
Environmental Science, Physics
During the last solar cycle Earth's cloud cover underwent a modulation more closely in phase with the galactic cosmic ray flux than with other solar activity parameters. Further it is found that…

Physics, Environmental Science
We discuss the problem of cosmic ray diffusion in the Milky Way and show that the spiral arm dynamics gives rise to a ~ 150 Myr periodic modulation of the cosmic ray density in the vicinity of the…
