Geology, Biology
This discovery is the first published record of lungfish of any age from the states of Alabama and Mississippi, and partially bridges the temporal gap in the fossil record between the Cenomanian lung Fish of Texas and the Campanian lung fish of New Jersey and extends the biogeographic range of Late Cretaceous lungfish to the eastern Gulf Coastal Plain of the United States.
Fossil lungfishes (Sarcopterygii, Dipnoi) of the Lower Triassic Driefontein locality in the Burgersdorp Formation, Beaufort Group, of South Africa, and their implications for ceratodontiform diversity after the end-Permian mass extinction

Biology, Geology
Driefontein is the most diverse lungfish locality in Gondwana during the Early Triassic, providing new evidence for the rapid recovery and re-radiation of dipnoans following the PTB and extending the range of Arganodus into sub-Saharan Africa and report the first occurrence of an African Gnathorhiza.
Reidentification of the holotype of ‘Ceratodus’ hieroglyphus Cope from the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian) of Montana, USA, as the scale of a holostean fish

Geology, Biology
The ganoid scales with well-developed peg-and-socket articulation of A. hieroglyphus are consistent with it being a holostean actinopterygian, but beyond that its affinities remain unknown.
