Abstract This paper presents the results of research into the rippability of rock by bulldozers carried out at the University of New South Wales. A database of detailed ripping and geological data gathered from highway and mine sites in New South Wales, Australia, has been used to determine the influence of different factors on the ripping productivity of bulldozers. The dominant factors affecting productivity have been found to be the unconfined compressive strength of the rock, the degree of…

The Cebeci region is characterized by outcrops of Carboniferous sandstone, including diabase dykes. This region is very important area for aggregate production in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of this

Comparison evaluation of excavatability classification for rock masses in tropical region

This article provides the discussion on the evaluation of existing rock excavatability of tropical weathered rocks of granite and quartz type in Malaysia. To do this, a case study was conducted in

The assessment of slope stability and rock excavatability in a limestone quarry

The aim of this study is to evaluate the stability and excavatability of newly stripped rock slopes (slope 1 (SN–1), slope 2 (SN–2), and slope 3 (SN–3)) in a limestone quarry. These are new

Applicability of Size-strength Rippability Classification System for Laterite Excavation in Iron Ore Mines of Goa

Goa is a small state situated at the western ghats of India, with a large number of Iron ore mines, where Ripper-dozers are used for excavation. It was observed during mine visits and discussion with
