Michael Rivas was born February 2, 1985 in Japan and grew up in Hawaii as son to an American father and Japanese mother. He is a singer, narrator and talent. He graduated from the Boston Berklee College of Music's Department of Songwriting in May, 2007.

Rivas grew interested in music when he started going to junior high school and at the age of 12 he learned to play the trumpet. Today he can also play drums, electric and classic guitars. After graduating high school he went to study in Boston, USA and came back to Japan in November, 2007. When he was selected as main MC for NHK Educational'sLittle Charo (リトルチャロ) series. Afterwards he started working as professional musician in Japan. The variety of his work included guest appearances in television shows and narrator roles. In 2009 he debuted as voice actor in episode 37 of television animeTentai Senshi Sunred.

Rivas is affiliated with the talent agencyHavMercy (ハブ・マーシー) which contracts native English speaker working in Japan. He has a brother, Rio Rivas (リオ・リーバス), who works as English translator, illustrator and picture book writer in Japan.
