Yes, it's a club for the #1 comic company in the world, Marvel. Wherever you like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men, Hulk, Captain America or anyone else from the Marvel Universe, this club is for you.
When I read the names of the New Warriors, I cringed so hard.
I felt like I read some sort of a parody comic for modern times. Or some Twitter shit trying to be serious. I want to believe whoever approved it, was under drugs. The only explaination I give to myself. It will tank obviously, let's be honest.
With modern Marvel books, it's no wonder stuff is going down. Who the hell wants to read such cancers as the New New Warriors or the Children of the Atom?
I think that each publisher will have to decide that for themselves. Books that are already done will go this way, but anything new that was planned won't come out neither in digital or physical edition. We will see after a month I think, right now everything changes status hourly.
I stopped ordering books for now. At least I save some money I'm only buying hardcovers anyway, but this will have effect on everything - lot of collected editions will be cancelled or pushed back to later dates. I wouldn't worry about Marvel or DC as their parent companies won't let them go under, but smaller publishers will get hit hard. Questions is if they will continue with digital releases. It is profitable, but huge money still lies in the physical copies.
It's very bad, indeed. And the worst part is, they can't do anything about it. Not just comic book stores, but MANY small business as well.
Here, they have a delivery system, so if you have some orders or you want to order something, they will deliver it. So, not as bad. But, it's just a work-around system.
With what is going on right now in the world, the comic book industry is in trouble (like lot of other industries). They stopped publishing new comics and many small shops are already saying that they will have to declare bankruptcy.
X-Men (Vol.2) #1 Cover D and Star Trek/X-Men crossover, made for the 30th anniversary of Star Trek. Yes, it exists and believe it or not, you DO need to watch an episode of Star Trek The Original Series to understand it.
The program of Athens Comicdom Con '10, cover designed by John Romita Jr himself. Yes, in 2010 JRJR came to Athens, in the wake of Kick-Ass movie and was a special guest for the 2nd day. He signed for me that X-Men issue you saw earlier and some HCs I'll see you later.
Cardcaptor Sakura comic book form #1. It's pretty much CCS manga, just flipped backwards, so you can read it like you do with a comic. And each issue is a chapter.
Speaking of JRJR.... The HCs he signed for me. Kick-Ass, Daredevil The Man without Fear, which is his 2nd favorite work JRJR ever did, first being the 9/11 Amazing Spider-Man issue with the black cover. And then, we have Eternals, by Neil Gailman. And we see the signs. He's awesome and a cool guy. After a 2-3 Q&A with him and waiting 1 hour in the line. One of best moments of my life.
EVERY single original Asterix comic book. In Greece, Asterix is one of the most famous and beloved comic books and characters. I don't have movie tie-ins and crap.
Maybe I wasn't looking well, but I didn't notice any Yu-Gi-Oh! box.
Still that is an impressive collection. I only have those late Marvel figures and not all of them. I picked those I liked and bought them. And I wasn't done with the collection and they had to go and stop it from releasing.
And that Punisher: Circle of Blood is impressive as well. If only I knew were to look for it....
If you can notice, I have some of Malibu Comics' stuff, the 1st Marvel/Malibu crossover and the 1st 4 issues of Prime. I don't know if I should put them on "Other companies" or with Marvel.
Premiere Classics, Premiere Editions and a B&W Spectacular Spiderman magazine and a Claremont/Manara X-Men story with the X-Girls, released only in Italy and Greece.
Final stretch of Marvel stuff and Slipcase HC Limited Edition of Frazzeta's Death Dealer. A nice dark fantasy story. I have almost every Squadron Supreme-related stuff, incl. Supreme Power. What I miss is Squadron Supreme Nighthawk vs Hyperion and Ultimate Power, the crossover of Ultimateverse and Supremeverse.
Transformers TPBs and inter-companies crossover. I freakin' love Transformers. I must be the only one in entire Greece who has TF: The Ark II, which is a sourcebook about the Japanese G1 characters.
If you ever see Flex Mentallo, BUY IT INSTANTLY! It's simply if not the best, one of the best Grant Morrison comics, along with All-Star Superman and JLA: Earth-2. And get the Atomic Knights too. It's awesome! Post-apocalyptic world with a group of knights fighting for justice and liberty.
Stuff outside of the shelf, since they couldn't fit in the shelf well
This is one great piece! It's a combination of picture book and comic book. Shazam visits a hospital with sick children and gives them some joy and happines. I love it. Also, Alex Ross, man. He rocks.
The OEL Marvel mangas. They are simply like Mangaverse, but a lot fucking better. The Wolverine one is nice and the X-Men one is a shoujo (!!!) comic, like Fruits Basket (!!!).
