* Based on a seinen manga byKikuchi Naoe andYokomi Hirohiko, serialised inIkki.

A manga artist is asked by her boss to accompany him and a travel-writer on various train trips around Japan and draw a manga about it.

Thetravel-writer turns out to be a super train-otaku who has vast knowledge of the train network, but also micro-manages all their trips, planning every detail down to the second. He cares mostly about following the schedule and successfully achieving his planned goals, e.g. visiting all stations on a line in an unusual order to accommodate infrequent trains. Themangaka does not really care about trains; she is cynical, sarcastic, and rather lazy. She mainly just looks forward to the next eki-ben. This difference in personality and interests inevitably lead to bizarre conflicts.

— written by Miles Bader (edited)

Note: The anime is actually completely non-fictional — the creator really did go on all these trips, and the manga simply records what happened, thus presenting various out of the way and interesting Japanese train lines and stations.

This is a collection of 3 stories from the influential horror author, H.P. Lovecraft, namelyThe Dunwich Horror,The Picture in the House andThe Festival. Done in claymation, and directed by Shinagawa Ryo as part of the Ga-nime series. Ga-nime (画ニメ), a portmanteau of "illustration" (画) and "anime", is a relatively recent trend in Japanese animation to create highly aesthetic short anime films using non-traditional animation techniques, often directed by artists who have limited involvement with the anime industry. Typically, these films will utilize a series of illustrations accompanied by voice acting and music, with the only motion provided by extremely simplified limited animation, computer animation, camera movements such as panning and zooming, or stop-motion animation. They are generally produced by only a handful of staff members, with the director often writing, illustrating, or even scoring the piece themselves. Since 2006, Toei Animation has produced several Ga-nime, directed by various notable artists, including Amano Yoshitaka and Amemiya Keita, on a variety of subjects ranging from original stories to adaptations of the works of Dazai Osamu, Hagiwara Sakutarou, and H. P. Lovecraft.
