Originally produced by Tezuka Productions in 1987, "Legend of the Forest" is a highly experimental animation dealing with the environmental theme of deforestation. Tezuka Osamu, the creater of "Astro Boy" and "Metropolis", spent more than 10 years to complete "Legend of the Forest" as a tribute to the pioneers of American animation. The entire animation piece was written and animated to Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony and the music successfully sets off the artistry of Tezuka's unique style of animation.
