TagsjoseiIn the context of manga and associated media, the word josei refers to a female audience roughly between the ages of 15 and 44. In Japanese, the word means simply "woman", and has no anime/manga-related connotations at all. It does not comprise a style or a genre per se, but rather indicates the publisher`s intended target demographic.,karutaKaruta (かるた, loaned from the Portuguese word meaning "card", carta) is a Japanese card game.,love polygonA love polygon refers to a romantic relationship involving n people. Although a love triangle is not limited to just heterosexual relationships, in anime, it usually deals with two females liking one male and vice versa.,mangaManga is the lifeblood that drives the anime industry. Everything and its mother is based on manga. However! There are exceptions where the manga was not the basis for the anime.See also manhua and manhwa.,romanceRomance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem.,school clubsEven though school clubs in Japan are not mandatory, there is some pressure from the social grid (e.g. fellow students, teachers) to participate in some kind of after-school activity, be it in sports or arts. Colleges also have clubs. There is the element of social commentary, making it clear that you have to join a club. Since self-founded clubs need at least 3 members, the desperate search and advertising for new members can be cause for hilarity in anime.,sportsSports anime revolves around a recreational physical activity or skill. In addition they often adhere to certain genre conventions, the emphasis on training and practice in preparation for competition, characters desire for self improvement, and pursuit of a specific goal. -[similar]

A fun little diversion from the regular Karuta. Fun, but not essential. Gotta say, Sumire is pretty manipulative.

They can vary considerably; commonly, females will wear a sailor uniform (modelled off the British Royal Navy uniforms in 1920) and males will often wear a "gakuran", which is a dark button-up uniform modelled off Prussian army uniforms. Skirts are often seen as garments for women, but exceptions exist. In anime, they`re almost always worn by women, generally as school uniform or workplace garments, and a man with one will likely be cross-dressing. Skirts that go below the knee are usually associated with strict rules and at times with winter, though even in winter anime schoolgirls in miniskirts can be found.
