TagsactionAction anime usually involve a fairly straightforward story of good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. It often contains a lot of shooting, explosions and fighting.,comedyAnime whose central struggle causes hilarious results. These stories are built upon funny characters, situations and events. A comedy anime is laced with humour and sets out to provoke laughter from the audience.Japanese humour can be a bit strange to westerners, so if you`re new to this type of humour, just bear with it; it`ll most likely grow on you if you`re a fan of other kinds of comedy.,newNot based on anything, the story is a new work, usually made up by the people involved in creating the anime. Generally if an original work (原作) credit is given, it will be to the studio, or director, or other members of the production team.,school lifeSince a large part of the anime audience still takes part in school life or is visiting college, it is only natural to choose a setting the audience can identify with, be it elementary, middle, or high school. For the older viewers a college setting with more mature real-life problems is appropriate. And since clubs take up so much time in the lives of students, these are obviously also important.,science fictionScience fiction stories usually focus on how situations could be different in the future when we are more technologically advanced; due to either our own achievements or having met with other civilizations whom we have learned from.,shoujo aiShoujo Ai means girls love, and as such it explores what happens when two girls (or women) fall in love. This is not to be mistaken for Yuri which is (or, at least, how this term is often used by the western audience) a hentai genre. This is not; that means there is no graphic sex. The male version is Shounen Ai. Cute girls doing cute things (CGDCT) is often mistaken as low level Yuri or Shoujo Ai. If there is no Yuri or Shoujo Ai subtext, i.e. if there is no romantic subtext, only tag CGDCT.,sportsSports anime revolves around a recreational physical activity or skill. In addition they often adhere to certain genre conventions, the emphasis on training and practice in preparation for competition, characters desire for self improvement, and pursuit of a specific goal. -[similar]

Welcome to the United Systems Sports Academy [USSA], where the elite from around the solar system come to hone their athletic prowess with the technologically enhanced training facilities and the renowned coaching staff. For many, the grueling, full contact competition against humanities strongest and most ambitious athletes is the beginning of a dream to become the next Tomoe Midou, the first Battle Athletes Competition winner, and most famous of all sports champions. However, for Akari Kanzaki, Tomoe Midou's daughter, the trails of the academy and it's scheming students provide a path of self discovery and a chance to step out from her mothers shadow.

Battle Athletes: Victory is sentimental and filled with passionate characters, but it doesnt go overboard with it. Track&Field, in a futuristic environment. Almost violent, but not bloody.

This was one of the first anime series I watched online back when you could only enjoy anime dubbed on TV or downloading LQ real player files.

It's an impressive anime, the characters are cool, the plot is original, very well made and entertaining. It's like the Olympics, in space, on more than steroids.

If you don't like sports anime DON'T SKIP this one, you'll enjoy it. Trust me, I HATE sports.

This is definitely an under-rated anime. It is a great comedy and fantastic characters... more people should check it out. for the people who gave the low rating probably hasn't seen the whole show, it really gets GOOD towards the end.

Strongly recommended for comedy /drama fans
Also I would recommendLOVE HINA fans to watch if they are curious what characters were ripped off from battle athletes victory! to love hina.Battle athletes victory! has a great cast of characters and they are all interesting and unique but then love hina ripped off ann and tanya and made them completely 1-dimensional, annoying, unlikable, cliche, stereotypical, just a cheap copy.

Animation
The animation is great considering the studio that made it.

Sound
I like the opening. BMG really enhances the scenes and it was memorable.

Story
Well I know some people will read the summary and think this is some crazy sci fi/sports plot but definitely don't judge a book by its cover. Yes, the first few eps sorta killed me too but it gets so much better

There is a great story especially towards the end. I must admit the beginning eps were just wacky and i wasn't sure what to think.

Also it has some great comedy because of the characters

Character
All of them are fun and interesting and original which love hina ripped off at least 2.

Akira who is the anime character with the lowest self-esteem ever. she even has a cardboard house she goes when she's really depressed.

Tanya is a really hyper, crazy girl from africa. she rips her clothes so it's easier to movie and there's always a humongous dust cloud following her since she is so active and of course she has a great personality.

Kris - really weird, interesting character I mean she brought a really unusual thing to the Place.

coach - the ep he was introduced was so hilarious, he was supposed to be really up-tight, picky coach who lives on an unusual food. (trying to be vague, not trying to spoil the jokes)

As you can see all the characters are unique and interesting. they really make the show hilarious.

Value
this anime is definitely worth your time,an ABOVE-average anime, lot of people are missing out.

I know just from the first 5 minutes of the first ep it looks crazy/bizzare but you should really give it more of a chance... stick to the end and then judge.

Battle Athletes: Victory is about Akari Kanzaki, the daughter of the best athlete ever, the supergenious Tomoe Midou (yeah right...). This takes place 3000 years into the future at the USSA, where the elite from around the solar system come to hone their athletic prowess with the technologically enhanced training facilities and the renowned coaching staff.
You can probably pretty much figure out if you’ll like this anime by watching the first episode. If you like hysterical crying, deep depressions, heavy violence in sports (no blood though), mental breakdowns 250 meters ahead of the finish line where the character ponders deep matters of her lower psyche then recover and dash ahead of the competitor which is among the best in the world, consented active cheating and of course lesbian romances then this is a surefire anime for you, for the rest of us it comes out a little better than the really bad... Personally I find these elements quite annoying and unrealistic, especially in a training facility where there’s supposed to be guidance but the first half of the anime is all self training it seems. ;)

Anyway, the animation is decent and the sound is background stuff, nothing you notice.

I suffered through the first 10 or so episodes only so I could write this review and bash it to hell. Surprisingly it actually got better after a while, sure the depressions and crying returns every now and then and the sport events are so out of touch of what would be possible in reality that it’s almost disgusting but at least it’s kept at a livable level in the later episodes. Don’t expect an epic story about heroics though, everything is explained with Akaris genes and indeed whenever she needs the strength and somehow sticks her head out of the hole of depression she does indeed perform feats of inhuman proportions seemingly with no effort spent to get the abilities.
The characters are shallow, if there are lesbian romances in a fantasy style anime (this is futuristic sports fantasy I’d say) it’s only there to add some semblance of a try at character depth and it won’t fool me with the deep depressions either, it gets out of hand the first time already and every time after it’s annoying.

After watching it there’s nothing memorable about the entire anime except when someone grabbed Akaris two tentacles and swung her around in the air for a couple of minutes, that was fun but well, this might be better than the bottom segment of acceptable animes but it sure doesn’t pass as good. No wonder it didn’t sell well, I doubt any person who is interested in a decent story would recommend BAV to a friend.

It defintely needs a few eps to get you involved, but the first few eps arent bad them either.
Its a rather long anime, they could almost have chopped it off in the middle and made two animes out of it. (which they almost did, as the OVA starts from the second half)

The character designer might've been lazy, but most characters look alike. Not from the start, but after a while. This could indicate that there are way too many characters, or that the character designer felt he had to apply the same style to all characters.

All in all, a very nice anime. a Shoujo anime if you ask me, defintely feels like a girlie anime.

If you are a rampant homophobe, a strong believer in the laws of physics, or a stickler for track-and-field realism you probably won't enjoy Battle Athletes Victory. Don't be fooled by it's comedy appearance in the first episodes , this is a brilliant character-driven drama series with heacy character-development.

The Character design probably isn't the best but it fits the characters very well, and they have lovely shoujo eyes ^_^. The animation is very well done, you won't see a static pic. The seiyuu have done a really fantastic job, the series is high on both comedy and drama and they bring out the best and make the characters more lovable.
