TagscomedyAnime whose central struggle causes hilarious results. These stories are built upon funny characters, situations and events. A comedy anime is laced with humour and sets out to provoke laughter from the audience.Japanese humour can be a bit strange to westerners, so if you`re new to this type of humour, just bear with it; it`ll most likely grow on you if you`re a fan of other kinds of comedy.,detectiveA detective is an investigator, generally either a member of a law enforcement agency or as an individual working in the capacity of private investigators, tasked with solving crimes and other mysteries, such as disappearances, by examining and evaluating clues and records in order to solve the mystery; for a crime, this would mean uncovering the criminal`s identity and/or whereabouts.,mangaManga is the lifeblood that drives the anime industry. Everything and its mother is based on manga. However! There are exceptions where the manga was not the basis for the anime.See also manhua and manhwa.,romanceRomance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem.,shounenIn the context of manga and associated media, shounen, literally meaning "youth" and often also specifically "boy", refers to a male audience roughly between the ages of 10 and 18.,thrillerThe thriller is a genre of fiction in which tough, resourceful, but essentially ordinary heroes are pitted against villains determined to destroy them, their country, or the stability of the free world. The hero of a typical thriller faces danger alone or in the company of a small band of companions. The protagonist may be a law enforcement agent, a journalist, or a soldier, but typically he or she is cut off from the resources of "their" organization. -[similar]

Kudou Shin'ichi is a famous 17-year-old high school detective who helps the police solve cases. While investigating a mysterious organization, he was knocked unconscious by one of them, and an experimental poison was forced down his throat. Instead of killing him, however, the drug shrunk him into a little kid. In order to prevent the men in black who did this to him from hurting his friends and family, he changed his name toEdogawa Conan and took on the identity of a gifted primary school student who solves mysteries and crimes through reasoning, logic, the help of his friends and some nifty gadgets Dr.Agasa Hiroshi invented for him. Now, he lives with his childhood friend,Mouri Ran, and her father, detectiveMouri Kogorou, without them knowing about his situation, and carries on his investigation of the organization that is still out to kill him.

The show is really great and addictive for the first several 100 episodes. A kid with the knowledge of an adult is very amusing.

But it slowly got boring because all episodes started becoming too annoyingly similar and they waste so much time on flashbacks and recaps and extremely slow pace that they stretch 5 mins of actual content over 25 mins and became almost repulsive. After being a huge fan, I finally got fed up by around 700 episodes.

Still I recommend. If this show was just the first few hundred episodes, this would have had a 9+ rating!

This is The Anime that got me hooked on anime. After 17 years of watching this I am still in love with it's characters, story, humor & style. Well, it is true that some anime originals can be easily skipped ( I still watch them, sometimes they are funny / interesting, but mostly boring ). The first 30 eps were pure epic, but after that you get lots of fillers in between some really good eps, movies & specials. If this anime was produced in a more condensed format it would have scored much much higher.

In all animes that I saw (350+), this is from far the one that toutches the largest public.

You could be a kid or an adult and like this anime.

There is so much content that you can get lost in all of it.

I begin watching Conan in fansub in VHS almost at the same time as I really start watching anime. I seen all 636 episodes to date, only by force of habit. Watching little by liitle is Ok but I would not recommend to watch all the episodes as most of them are pretty episodic, an after a while, quite repetitive. The best is to watch the plot related episode, the one that bring a little bit of character devellopment in this endless shonen (for that refer to DCTP site). There some quite excellent episodes in these expecially episode 128-129, the mighty 2 hours 345; Confrontation with the Black Connection. Coincidence of the Two Events on a Night with a Full Moon and the last 490-504 Clash of Red and Black. But since then it's pretty much only filler. To close a good serie if you carefully select the episodes you watch (maybe 5 to 10% of all episode?).

When deciding to watch this series or not, you have to think about one thing:
If you like detective stories. Before I started watching Conan, I've never really been into mysteries and such. Now, I got so caught into it and I'm even reading Agatha Christie novels.
Watch first three episodes to find out if you have some hidden love for detective series in there. If you won't like then, you are not going to like it after that.
Well anyway, this show's got a really good, yet very slow, plot. It is getting better after 300+, but it is so slow at the beggining. You can also watch only the story episodes, but that's your choice. I personally think this show is much better without a fast plot - there is a lot more mysteries to solve. And that's what detective series are for, aren't they?

Definitely one of my favourite shows, up until chapter 500. But you might want to skip all the fillers (1/2 of the episodes), and the plot is beggining to lose its point after so many years of repetition.

I am always in doubt of the concept of serialized detective fiction. They tend to become formulaic products. That's why many detective fiction often employ other elements of action, drama and suspense to keep the audience engaged. Good examples include the first two seasons of Sherlock, and the anime Monster, or even Mushishi. Unfortunately most of them suffer from plot device characters, where character's humanity is sacrificed to move the plot forward.

Case Closed is an unholy abomination of detective fiction that no one seemed to talk about, so here we go:

Because Case Closed hasn't finished yet, so I can only write a preview. When in fact, this show has actually finished after the Clash of Red and Black arc(ep. 491-504) because the show has shown no signs of returning into really good detective fiction as it had in the two 150 min TV specials after the Red and Black arc. And the chances of it returning to its former glory is so close to impossible that viewers can assume Case Closed has finished after episode 504. In my opinion, I strongly believe that Case Closed is as lively as the corpse of a dead horse.

There is often a great pitfall in all long-running anime with 100+ episodes, the original talent used to create the beginning 100 episodes has been deprived. Usually when this happens the writer takes a break. However, in the case of long-running anime the writer is then pressured by the publisher to create more content to pursue profit. This is what happened to the last 12 episodes of Death Note. Here the author may take the dreaded measure of a formula to create content regularly without too much. According to fans, Aoyama Goshou no longer puts out quality content in the manga, and are now taking hiatuses(sources point to his addiction with Kantai Collection): Case Closed becomes a predictable pattern of guessing people with a set of evidence. Murders happen everywhere Conan goes, and the murderers all have laughable motives.

What's even worse is that the TV series has to compensate for all the hiatuses, so they go in the dreaded direction: Original Content. For a few episodes original content sometimes yield good results, but to do it over nearly a hundred episodes would definitely give birth to some bad episodes.

There is also something wrong with Case Closed's original premise. A good plot twist is a plot twist that the audience could have guessed, but not expected. The evidence of Case Closed is so obscure that no one in the world except Goshou himself, or Jeopardy's ten-time-consecutive winner could have guessed it. More often than not, the murderer's identity is deduced through worthless trivia ranging from Panda Cars, to weather-vanes instead of logical reasoning and method of elimination.

The show also flips the bird to one of the greatest rules of cinema: Show, don't tell. This is kind of the fault of the manga: It is littered with letters of Conan's thoughts, so the show eventually has people talking non-stop instead of cutting the lines down and showing more pictures/animations that are more effective at representing words.

Not only was the plot abysmal, the characterization of this show is atrocious. The majority of the side characters are one dimensional plot-devices. They have been deprived of humanity to make sacrifice to the plot. If you thought that wasn't bad enough, the main characters are now suffering the same fate too because the show's creators forgoes its original premise and creates shoddy, inhuman "character development": Shinichi originally was a man who would never kill another person, even if he had commited heinous crimes because he values life more than anything, he could be in trouble if he fucked up. But now he's a ruthless, calculator. Now he has rarely been placed in peril, and is always in control. Thus all suspense in the show is dissipated, leaving the audience no motivation to watch further. Ran, Shinichi's girlfriend, originally was a caring, sympathetic, albeit sometimes going over-the-top karate girl. The new episodes butchered here personality to make her envious, apathetic, and more violent. The diamond in the rough are people like Ai, Shuuichi, but they're only the minority. Now they're even going against Goshou's will to exploit Ai's personality by setting up a love triangle between Ai, Conan, and Ran.

The value of the show lies in the few episodes and TV specials of this show. If made into a live-action movie, they rival even the best detective films Hollywood. However, the value of Case Closed have been diluted by the horrible, pointless drivel of the new episodes.

I used to watch Case Closed when I was a kid. It was the best piece of detective fiction I had ever watched when I was young. I could still remember the chills I got when I learned Vermouth's secret in Double Mystery. When the black organization closes on a certain individual in Black Impact I can hear my heart pumping in my chest. You were my favorite show Case Closed. You were the best piece of detective fiction. You were to bring balance to detective anime, not leave it in darkness! So I am especially harsh with this show, and the wreckage it has become.

P.S. Not a big fan of Goshou's artstyle, and the animation is really bad in the new episodes. The music and sound effects are the best thing about this show.

Unlike a genius, the clever person may be skilled, but only mundanely so, and in contrast to a cunning person, a clever person is not characterized by being sly or apt at surreptitiousness.genius(1)A genius is someone possessing extraordinary intelligence or skill, normally to a degree associated with the achievement of unprecedented insight, and especially when demonstrated through a creative or original work in a field of human knowledge.
