Aqualoid was a prosperous planet, but an attack from a mysterious life force, the Inorganics, transforms it into a post-apocalyptic shell of its former self. WhenNam finds a mysterious sword, he is suddenly the object of a planet-wide chase. With the Inorganics closing in, will Nam and his friends discover the secret of the sword and save their world? Or will they destroy Aqualoid in favor of a new Birth?

A direct antecedent of trigger's gurren lagann and takeshi koike's redline/dead leaves. science saru, psg, flcl you name it. a mid 80's birth of what would become an animation style and visual language of flash, reduction and distortion and verve for the 90s and 00s. a stunning and breathless shove out of the womb

This animation is only for fans. The animation is good, especially if you're after 80s explosions, lasers, super deformed characters, and some great tech design (Kobayashi Makoto himself).
But plot is inconsistent or almost missing. Soundtrack is great, but sound design is missing as well (SFX work is really poor, sometimes you won't hear a thing, sometimes music is out of place).
