Kemono employs animal traits considered cute and endearing; most kemono characters retain a fundamentally human personality, seldom behaving as the actual animals from which they have been anthropomorphized, instead depicted living as humans.Juujin leans more on the human-looking side when compared to anthropomorphism, which leans more on the animal-looking side.,novelA novel is a relatively long work of narrative fiction, normally written in prose form, and which is typically published as a book. Manga, comics, or visual novels do not fit this description and are not considered novels; including a small number of illustrations, however, is still permissible, which means that light novels are considered novels.,romanceRomance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem.,seinenSeinen, literally "young man", is one of the main demographic classifications applied to manga, and, by extension, to anime, especially manga-based ones. As the name implies, seinen works are marketed primarily to an audience of young men; the age range commonly understood to be the target of such works goes roughly from 17 to somewhere in the 40s. -[similar]

Years ago I had watched the original Anime, who's story seemed similar but not quite the same as this one. I suspect that this one follows the Manga (/Story) closer than the previous. I also like the fact how they bookend the series showing this as a romance series whether we think so or not. Very beautifully done. Looking forward to watching S2

I watched the first one years ago. While this one has better animation, it relies more heavily on the drama, angst, and tear jerk moments. There seems to be less instances of them just enjoying time together and trading shenanigans. Seems as though Holo became a bit bipolar based on her wild swings back and forth between emotional states. Might not be for me.

A "remake" that does not suck...
Theres a pagan miracle right there.
(wonder if it was the work of a little wolf lady)...

Now for real.
if you know this series, the remake is good !
don’t be afraid to watch it.

If you are new to this series, go watch it!
it’s a lovely story!
that’s the best way to put it.

The new adaptation trades the authenticity of the original animation for a more sleek and clear look, that I don't particularly fancy especially when it comes to backgrounds and urban areas. There some drop off in quality in later episodes as well.

If it weren't obvious this is the only thing I can complain about, yes there is some CG but they are sticking to the books and keeping the OG VAs has payed off. I haven't been so happy with an adaptation in a long time and home I can watch the complete story one day.

To new viewers, if you are looking for a grounded yet mystical romance you will not be disappointed. Give this one a go, because it's an odd apple compared to almost everything else.

10/10 No regrets

I never watched the previous version of this anime series because it was giving me the vibes of a show that wasn't going to be faithful to the source material. I gave this remake a chance and watched it because of the feedback that it is going to stick to the source, and after watching it until the end of episode 25, I'd like to say that this anime did not disappoint.

There is nothing groundbreaking on Ookami to Koushinryou (remake) compared to studio Gainax's anime gems, but the visuals, the characters, the plot, the sound, the pacing... *chef's kiss* it was superb.

This is a definite must see for newbie and veteran anime watchers alike. I shall eagerly await for Season 2 to come out.

As a big fan of the OG, I couldn't be more happy when this was announced.
This retelling of the story is much more loyal to the source material and as a bonus it comes in a modern package. I did like the animation of the OG a little more than this one's CGI-ish feel, but most of the time it didn't bother me too much.
As for the (excellent) story - this renewed version threw away the OG's bad habit of "forcing" a new "love interest" on Lawrence in every arc - even where there wasn't any in the LN, and even gave us a new arc that was not adopted in the OG. What more do you need? 25 episodes is a good enough dosage of Holo for most people to stay afloat until S2 starts, sometime in the future :)
9/10 for me ❤️

I've just watched first 2 eps and it felt to me somehow off, a little hollow compared to my memory of Spice&Wolf. So I've watched the old version and although current animation is more vivid and alive and has good music intro, I find the old version to have much more depth to it and find it much more entertaining. Emotions are better transmitted and the animation shows more complete mental-emotional picture. To me it has more finesse and captures the heart better.
So I recommend watching 1-2 eps and then re-watching the 1st ep of old version right after, to check which version you prefer to follow.
