TagsconspiracyThe conspiracy thriller (or paranoid thriller) is a sub-genre of the thriller which flourished in the 1970s in the US (and was echoed in other parts of the world) in the wake of a number of high-profile scandals and controversies (most notably Vietnam, the assassination of President Kennedy, Chappaquiddick and Watergate), and which exposed what many people regarded as the clandestine machinations and conspiracies beneath the orderly fabric of political life. The protagonists of conspiracy thrillers are often journalists or amateur investigators who find themselves (often inadvertently) pulling on a small thread which unravels a vast conspiracy that ultimately goes "all the way to the top".,contemporary fantasyMagic and supernatural beings exist secretly in what is generally regarded as the real world. Such elements may have originated from another world. Stories where a modern-day character travels to an alternate fantasy world are not considered contemporary fantasy.,detectiveA detective is an investigator, generally either a member of a law enforcement agency or as an individual working in the capacity of private investigators, tasked with solving crimes and other mysteries, such as disappearances, by examining and evaluating clues and records in order to solve the mystery; for a crime, this would mean uncovering the criminal`s identity and/or whereabouts.,high schoolA secondary school that usually contains grades 10 through 12 in Japan, or 9 through 12 in America.,school lifeSince a large part of the anime audience still takes part in school life or is visiting college, it is only natural to choose a setting the audience can identify with, be it elementary, middle, or high school. For the older viewers a college setting with more mature real-life problems is appropriate. And since clubs take up so much time in the lives of students, these are obviously also important.,thrillerThe thriller is a genre of fiction in which tough, resourceful, but essentially ordinary heroes are pitted against villains determined to destroy them, their country, or the stability of the free world. The hero of a typical thriller faces danger alone or in the company of a small band of companions. The protagonist may be a law enforcement agent, a journalist, or a soldier, but typically he or she is cut off from the resources of "their" organization. -[similar]

An anime which starts off as a comedy, but immediately kills off the comedy part, which leaves you wondering why they even introduced the comedypart at all.

The main thing about this series is the mysterious aura which surrounds the entire plot. But even though it looks like a regular detective, it isn't; it goes much and much deeper, making this series much better than other detective series.

Unfortunately they haven't paid any attention to matching the mouths to the text, and they didn't even made an effort to make the characters move okay: they all move as if the series has been made in the early 80's, which means that when running in a diagonal way, the feet obviously don't even hit the floor which is pretty annoying. As if they didn't want to spend any time on this anime.

The story becomes rather boring and unbelievable after 4-5 episodes, but after episode 10 it becomes interesting again, and you can actually feel the intensity of getting to a climax. Again, unfortunately, the solution to the entire thing is a bit ... crappy.

Even though the series lacks a lot, and hardly makes up for the lacking parts, it still might be interesting enough to watch whenever you have nothing else to do. The detective-part is certainly entertaining, and the episodes 10+ are also pretty good.

Still, it's not good enough to give higher than decent rankings.

This anime is all about mystery. It is what keeps you going when you watch it. That and some interesting insights into some philosophy and the characters motivation.

Sadly it suffers from two major drawbacks. The story is quite unbelievable, even when assuming an alternate reality. And the resolution to it all is also lacking quite a bit.

Overall it is not a bad waste of time if you can overlook some of its shortcomings. Moody atmosphere and some interesting twists make up for it.
