A.k.a. “The Body”
A.k.a. James Janos (given name)
Jesse Ventura, a former Navy SEAL andprofessional “wrestler”, probably reached the peak of his political career whenhe played a prominent role in the masterpiece “Predator” (with Schwarzeneggerand Sonny Landham). He later went on to become governor of Minnesota, a role inwhich he was known as crazy but with a few, intermittent flashes of brilliance. Some of his outbursts werereceived with mixed feelings, however, such as “organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-mindedpeople who need strength in numbers” (Ventura has identified himself as anatheist) and “ [u]ntil you've hunted man, you haven't hunted yet.”
That was back then, when he still had themental acumen necessary to manage to categorize Predator as fiction. Currently,Ventura is a batshit tinfoil addlepate conspiracy theorist who does his best togiveJeff Rense andAlex Jones runs for their money. He currently has his own TV show, Conspiracy Theory withJesse Ventura, and despite what self-deluding fans may claim: Ventura does notjust inquire into these matters to provide cheap entertainment for the masses.Ventura wears his tinfoil hat with pride.
He is particularly fond of 9/11 conspiracytheories, endorsing (on Alex Jones’s show, no less) the“controlled demolition” idea.Of course, he doesn’t explicitly endorse it – he is justJAQing off.Which means that he rather explicitly endorses it.
Ventura has also written a book, “Don’tStart the Revolution Without Me”, in which – according to his agent – Venturareveals “why he left politics and discussing the disastrous war in Iraq, why hesees our two-party system as corrupt, and what Fidel Castro told him about whowas really behind the assassination of President Kennedy.” A pity; he almostmanaged to stagger his way to the finishing line in that blurb.
Diagnosis: A sad case, really, of anotherwise once intermittently moderately intelligent person donning the tinfoil hat. I thinkthe idea was to stare just a little into the abyss, but Ventura unfortunatelydidn’t really have the critical thinking skills needed to do this safely.

Actually, Ventura was NOT a SEAL -- he was a supply clerk in a UDT (frogman) unit and spent the whole war sitting in the Philippines & sunbathing on a ship in the S. China Sea.
ReplyDeleteIn spite of his many lies on the subject, he never set foot in Vietnam, was never in combat, and made up all that crap about "hunting man."
Ventura is a disgrace to the uniform he wore, and owes all REAL combat veterans an apology for pretending to be one of them.
Sadly, Ventura isn't man enough to do that.
According to SEAL team members and historians, Ventura was a member of the UDT Frogmen, the predecessor to the SEALS.
DeleteThus, in their minds, Ventura deserves to be recognized as a former member of the SEALS, regardless of whether he actually served in combat or not.
For the record, Ventura has openly stated many times that he did NOT see combat in Vietnam.
Other than that I like Ventura and I liked his attitude as Minn. Governor, but his TV shows suck.
