It's notable that similarly floaty shooters likeResident Evil 4 for the Wii had no such complaints, after players got used to it. This causes many players who did not play this at launch to experience cognitive dissonance upon reading the many reviews and comments (even on this very wiki) slamming the controls they had no problems with. That this still not been absorbed into popular perception makes it the trope.
