The future of Allerton is rooted in its past direction. Robert and John Gregg Allerton left this facility to the University with three guidelines for use: education, research, and as a public park. Allerton’s future will continue to include these three aspects in different and evolving capacities.

As we continue to improve access and engagement as a public park, we will provide visitors ample opportunities for education, both formally and informally. In the past, most research has focused solely on the natural areas, but as we move forward we will consider the opportunities Allerton provides for a more holistic approach studying an individual’s interaction with and benefits from a place such as this.

We will continue to improve facilities, ensuring they remain both relevant and historically significant, while continuing to grow public outreach—using those advancements to not only fulfill Robert and John’s wishes but also to protect and preserve this rare place for centuries to come.
