There was a plan to release Lorraine on Steam, but it has been postponed indefinitely. Meanwhile, the larger project set in the same universe,Preternatural 1909, is in its early stages of development.
I’ll share more details with a proper presentation once I have more material to showcase.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game. The art style and gameplay were smooth and I really liked the character designs. It was refreshing to see the art style, character designs and environments beyond the PS1 styles prominent in the horror genre. My only critique would be more exposition within the game, and the camera remaining on the character after finding the doll parts. I found the character bios after playing, answering some of my suspicions, otherwise solid game, and I hope to see more of your work in the future.
There's a big disclaimer in this page that warns about animal violence. Why did you play the game if you can't stand that kind of content? You're punishing the dev for something that is entirely your fault...
-----
I wish common sense was common enough that I didn't have to mention this - it's ok to not like certain types of content, however, it's important to note that videogames are NOT real. Those cats aren't real. Those people aren't real. You can't hurt something that doesn't exist.
Most people know that fiction is just a story medium; to experience new things, new perspectives, or merely a form of entertainment. Immoral acts are permissible in fiction because they have no bearing in reality. Similarly, the inclusion of dark topics doesn't necessarily mean either the player or the author approve of such things in the real world.
Lorraine is a gothic rock or penny dreadful turned into videogame form. A game I've been looking for and never knew it actually existed. I loved it so much that the prospect of it ending so shortly made me not want to finish it. Gorgeously looking, if you ever wondered what would be like to play on Edgar Allan Poe or Mary Shelley novel, this is the game for you.
It also runs perfectly on Steam Deck as you can see by pressing the link below:

Such a beautifully macabre experience. The way the story unfolds from the beginning all the way to the very end is exceptional. Even the smallest details, like the framed pictures in the house, and how the state of everything evolved over time to coincide with the story... The music... And the moody camera angles and transitions... Very well done. My only complaint is that it was way too short!
I adore this! Lorraine is now one of my favourite games, everything about it is delightful. Love the gothic design, especially on Lorraine herself, and the sound design is absolutely chilling (especially during that cat scene). Gamplay is simple but works for the story being told, and that ending was definitely unexpected. Fantastic experience, I'd love to play more games in this style.
Had to comment again as I've just finished playing the updated version and wow! Lorraine was already one of my favourite games but the amount of new content here makes me love it even more, I adored getting to spend more time with Gentian and seeing a bit more of the world itself. Lorraine is still a wonderful character and it was great seeing even more depth to her story with all these extra scenes. Love it, love it, love it. Also seeing everything you've added here is making me very excited for Preternatural 1909.
I am someone who can not play horror games myself as I am in fact a big baby. But I watched manlybadasshero play the game and I have to say the aestheitics of it are wonderful. Your ability to perfect recreate the old style of pre rendered cutscene but also somehow update it and make it feel fresh it honestly impressive.
I appreciate the lack of jumpscares and the horror more so coming from the unknown of the story and what's real. The cat cutscene I found the most disturbing purely because of the sound design and nothing else, but it didn't feel gross like some other games would do with something like that.
Was really impressed by the game, particularly with the presentation. You really captured the essential elements of the gothic horror genre and it was refreshing to see an indie horror game that doesn't rely on huge amounts of notes, documents and long expository dialogue to tell a story. I was surprised that even the Itch.io page is wonderfully presented and makes an excellent first impression!
My only complaint is that Lorraine makes an off-handed comment that supports the myth that corsets were somehow dangerous or harmful to women. This myth is the bane of fashion historians and there's a lot of information online debunking that particular myth so I won't go into great detail here, but Karolina Zebrowska, Bernadette Banner and Abby Cox all have excellent videos on the topic.

Saw the first few minutes of a playthrough, which covered the funeral. I stopped there to see for myself how the story ends. At first I expected something of a Black Widow/Vampire storyline but was pleasantly surprised it wasn't. Still, this game felt like a fragment of a bigger story. A lot of potential, I like it. Especially the victorian era vibe.
However, poor cats.
Already watched two playthroughs of the game but went ahead and purchased it for myself because I immediately fell in love with the graphical style and ambience of the game. I'm really looking forward to more from this dev!
Edit: just played through it myself and I'm curious, what was the dried flower found under the bed for?? Is there a secret hidden somewhere involving this flower?
Looking forward to seeing what you create next!
As someone who loves gothic literature and anything related to horror, I loved this game very much! It is fairly short, maybe an hour of gameplay at most. There are no chase scenes or combat. So, if you are someone like me who prefers dark stories and psychological horror instead of jumpscares, I would recommend this game for you! The aesthetics of this game are very beautiful and nostalgic, so exploring the environment is a great experience.
Overall I would compare it to reading one of Edgar Allen Poe's short stories! I look forward to playing more games from this dev in the future <3
It was interesting, but I feel like the resources were somewhat underused. I expected more "fetch-questing" based off of the graveyard intro, and I was invested in the story, so I feel like it ended quite suddenly.
Also, the statue in the center of the cat area has no collision, and the mirror collider clips through to the bedroom.
