Apple updated Xcode today with multiple welcome bug fixes, including some performance updates to its new AI-assisted coding features. Here’s what’s new.

Following today’s event, Apple is now rolling out the first Release Candidate version of the operating systems announced during WWDC25, as well as for Xcode 26. Here are the details.

Apple hasreleased a new beta of Xcode 26 for developers today with a pair of notable changes. There’s now support for ChatGPT 5, as well as built-in integration with Anthropic’s Claude.

Towards the end of this year’s WWDC keynote,Craig Federighi said that Apple had “expanded” their vision for Swift Assist, and would bring native integration with ChatGPT, alongside support for other LLMs via API, directly to Xcode. Now,9to5Mac can confirm that Apple is set to support native integration with Anthropic’s Claude as well.

With today’s developer beta 5 releases, Apple also rolled out a new version of Xcode 26 beta that brings a notable change: two distinct download options, one of them being Apple silicon-specific.

Last Monday, towards the end of the WWDC25 keynote, Craig Federighi said that Apple had “expanded” its vision for Swift Assist, and it would now allow developers to bring their Large Language Model of choice directly to Xcode.

Apple held itsWWDC25 keynote yesterday, where it announced a new suite of software updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS – all under the new version numbering umbrella of ’26’. A new suite of OS releases comes with a new version of Xcode, which also falls under the new 26 naming umbrella.

In the first beta of Xcode 26, the developer tool used to build apps for these new operating systems, Apple now includes a new ‘Vision Pro 4K’ simulator.

‘Skip’ is a new tool to bring iOS apps to Android

One big hurdle with app development is that generally speaking, you have to build separate apps for both iOS and Android. There are cross platform frameworks such as React Native, however that generally results in a subpar experience on both platforms. Skip aims to solve that by allowing existing iOS app developers to create a native Android app with minimal effort.

Apple has released Xcode version 15.2, adding support for creating Apple Vision Pro apps. Apple’s integrated development environment with Vision Pro app support was previously only available in beta.

First announced at WWDC 21,Xcode Cloud is Apple’s continuous integration system for developers. In 2022, we saw Apple expand the availability to all developers and offer 25 free compute hours of service per month. Now, Apple has announced it is extending the free compute hours of Xcode Cloud for all registered Apple Developers indefinitely.

Apple releasediOS 16.4 and other software updates to the public earlier this week, and these updates add some new features to the company’s operating systems. Now Apple is also rolling out Xcode 14.3 to developers, allowing them to work with the company’s latest SDKs.

Following the release of the first iOS 16.5 beta to developers, Apple on Tuesday announced new requirements for developers submitting their apps to the App Store. Starting next month, Apple will require that every app must be built with Xcode 14.1 or later to ensure compatibility with iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS Ventura.

Apple this year made Xcode Cloud available to all developers after more than a year inprivate beta. Now, after already having expanded access to the platform, Apple is letting developers sign on for more compute hours on Xcode Cloud if they need it.

Apple will soon require developers to submit apps to the App Store using Xcode 13

Apple on Tuesday sent a reminder to developers about an upcoming change in the requirements for submitting apps to the App Store. Starting April 25, 2022, all apps created for Apple’s platforms must be built with Xcode 13 – the latest version of the SDK available.

Apple last year announcedXcode Cloud, which is a new platform that lets developers accelerate the development process by running automated tests and other tasks in the cloud. While the platform is still available as a private beta, Apple says access will be expanded to more developers soon, while the official launch is still expected later this year.

In addition to the release ofiOS 15.2, macOS Monterey 12.1, watchOS 8.3, and tvOS 15.2, Apple on Monday also updated its Xcode developer tool to version 13.2. The update, which comes with new features, hints at the upcoming release of Swift Playgrounds 4.

PSA: Xcode 13.1 RC now available to developers

Following the release of iOS 15.1 RC, macOS Monterey RC, and other updates, Apple has also made Xcode 13.1 RC (Release Candidate) available to developers. The latest version of Xcode can now be downloaded on the Apple Developer website.

In a new interview, Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, and Andreas Wendker, Apple’s vice president of tools and frameworks engineering, talk about the new tools developers have available after WWDC21.

A new backdoor threat has been discovered that aims to compromise Apple developers’ Macs with a trojanized Xcode project. This malware can record victims’ microphone, camera, keyboard, and also upload/download files. The first in the wild example of the threat was found within a US organization.

If you are a developer, you probably have to compile new builds of an app several times a week, or even in one day.Lickability, the company behind Accelerator and Pinpoint apps, is today launching a new app called “Buildwatch for Xcode,” which is a developer tool designed to manage how much time you spend compiling apps and also helps you optimize it.
