Following a reported deal earlier this year, OpenAI has confirmed that it will start running ChatGPT on Google Cloud services.

If you’re struggling with Google services right now, you’re not alone as it appears that a partial outage is affecting many of the company’s various apps and services.

OpenAI is reportedly tapping Google’s cloud services to power ChatGPT and other services as it seeks to diversify from Microsoft.

Google acquiring cloud security company Wiz for $32B, will still work with other cloud providers

Google today announced plans to acquire Wiz, a cloud security startup, to the tune of $32 billion in an effort to strengthen its cloud security.

Google Cloud and Stack Overflow announced a strategic partnership today that boosts the utility of Gemini for developers.

For the second time this month, Google has advertised on the Las Vegas Sphere. An active Google Cloud campaign this week follows Chrome ads on the Sphere during the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Besides the Tensor SoC on Pixel phones, Google has developedother custom chips, with all silicon designnow occurring in the cloud.

It seems that when Google shut down Stadia for consumers, Google Cloud also formally discontinued its B2B offering, “Immersive Stream for Games.”

From layoffs to not paying bills, Twitter has been on a cost-cutting drive since the Elon Musk acquisition. The latter has resulted in lawsuits from landlords and vendors, though one partner Twitter is not antagonizing is Google.

Following“Argos” VCU chips that help YouTube process videos more efficiently and Tensor, Google is working on custom server chips.

Last May, Google Cloud announced Immersive Stream for XR to use cloud-based GPUs (like Stadia) for interactive 3D and augmented reality experiences, like product demos, and it’s nowgenerally available.

After a three-year absence, Google Cloud will host an in-person event for its annual developer and partner conference. Google Cloud Next ’23 will take place in San Francisco at the end of August.

Google Cloud and Fitbit (Health Solutions) todayannounced “Device Connect for Fitbit” to let healthcare providers and other life science research better collect and analyze wearable data.

Google Cloud’sImmersive Stream for XR makes possible interactive 3D and augmented reality experiences on mobile, and will soon support augmented and virtual headsets.

Google today is home to two divisions that have their own CEOs:Cloud and YouTube. “Google Public Sector” was announced today as a “new Google division that will focus on helping U.S. public sector institutions.”

Amidst I/O 2022, Google Cloudannounced Immersive Stream for XR last week to use the cloud-based GPUs behind Stadia for interactive 3D and augmented reality demo experiences. 

Since 2017, Google Cloud has offered aSpeech-to-Text (STT) API that third-parties can take advantage of in their own services. Thenewest models for Google speech recognition improve accuracy due to a “major” technology improvement, and are particularly suited for creating voice UIs.

Google is officially unveiling “Immersive Stream for Games,” the service to let companies offer Stadia-powered game streaming directly to their customers.

Asrumored yesterday, Google todayannounced that it’s acquiring cybersecurity firm Mandiant. This deal, if approved by regulators, will expand Google Cloud’s security offerings.

In this past week alone, there’s been a flurry of developments around Google and buzzy, emerging technologies. The latest sees Google Cloud ramp up a digital assets division focused on helping other companies adopt the blockchain. 

A Google Cloud outage this morning is responsible for taking down parts of Snapchat, Discord, Spotify, and a host of other services that rely on GCP for hosting.

AtCloud Next ’21, Google announced “Work Safer” as a one-stop offering for small businesses, enterprises, and public sector institutions looking to equip and protect employees amid hybrid work.
