Pixel AI Notification Summaries start rolling out: How to enable
Following thePixel Feature Drop on Tuesday, we’re now beginning to see Notification Summaries go live.
If rolled out to your phone, go to the Settings app > Notifications for “Notification summaries” at the top of the list after Notification history.
Google explains how this feature will let you “Summarize long messages and group conversations.” It leverages “AI on your device” (Gemini Nano), with messages “never sent to Google.”
After enabling Notification Summaries (it’s off by default), you will get a “Don’t include these apps” list. All your chat apps are opted-in and you can quickly disable. This list lets you sort applications by Most recent, Most frequent, and All apps.

On our device, first-party apps include Google Chat, Google Meet, Google Messages, Google Voice, Gmail (presumably the Chat tab), and curiously Phone by Google.
At launch, English is supported. Google will not summarize short notifications, text with multiple languages, or only emoji. You also won’t see summaries if you’re actively using your phone” as the “screen must be off for a moment.” Additionally, generation is disabled if Battery Saver mode is enabled.
Summaries feature a sparkle icon and are italicized. You can expand the notification to see the original thread.
Make sure you’re on thelatest version of Android System Intelligence (B.17).
Notification Summaries are available on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This is not yet widely available.
