does anyone have any information about the zebras at ackland zoo?
i would be very greatful.

 

They currently have 2 mares (Shiloh and Itika) both had foals with the previous stalion (Monty) who died in November 2007.

Shiloh's foal (Bacari) was born on new years eve 2005. He was later found to be deaf.

Itika also had a male foal on 15th December 2007. She came to Auckland from Monarto Zoo in South Australia.

I think both the foals are still at Auckland Zoo but can't confirm this.

 

Both foals are still at Auckland Zoo. They now have a new breeding stallion called Machano from Hamilton Zoo.

 

Does Itikas foal have a name?

 

Do you know what zoo/s they went to?

 

I dont off the top of my head sorry, I was told but cant remember but I will try to find out for you.

Ok I found out...the fillies are Lindwe (born 2009) and Nyah (born 2008)

Also incase you wanted to know:

Machano was born in 2003
Shilo was born in 1992
Itika was born in 1992
and Itika's new little foal Unyazi was born 21/09/2010

Shiloh's mother was named Sheena, she was born in 1979 at Auckland Zoo. There were many other foals born around this time but and I think many were sent to the Hamilton, Wellington and Orana Park Zoo's.

oh i also just found out that there was a zebra born in 1987 called maria any one no her paeants or any other info

 

I know a zebra called Maria at Franklin Zoo but I don't know if that is the same one though.
