WQHL-FM (98.1FM) is acommercialradio stationlicensed toLive Oak,Florida, and also servingLake City. It airs acountry musicformat. WQHL-FM is owned by Southern Stone Communications along withtalk stationWQHL (1250AM),sports stationWJZS (106.1 FM) andhot adult contemporary stationWCJX (106.5 FM). Talk stationWDSR (1340 AM) andclassic hitsWNFB (94.3 FM) are also run by Southern Stone under alocal marketing agreement (LMA) with their owner Newman Media, Inc.

WQHL-FM has aneffective radiated power (ERP) of 50,000watts. Thestudios andtransmitter facilities are on Helvenston Street Southeast in Live Oak.

History

WQHL-FMsigned on the air in December 1973; 51 years ago (1973-12).[1] The station was later acquired by Norm Protsman, owner of WNER (1250 AM, nowWQHL. In 1988, Protsman sold the two stations to Day Communications.[3]

In 1999, the owner died, with the Day family selling the stations to the Southern Media Group.[4] By 2001, WQHL-AM-FM were owned by Black Crow Media Group.[5] The stations were sold to current owner Southern Stone Communications in 2013.[6]

Programming

Weekday programming on the station includes thenationally syndicated "Big D and Bubba" show in morningdrive time. Middays are hosted by Sherri Farmer and afternoons feature Wayne Littrell.
