Renaming Mignon~enwiki

[edit]

Thanks for researching this!Mignon~enwiki (talk)23:01, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

HiMignon~enwiki, thanks for chatting with me about your issue at the event! I can't guarantee anything, but after speaking on discord with some other admins and stewards, we seem to think it's possible that a steward would be willing to usurp Mignon for you. I'd recommend taking the following steps:
  1. Go toSteward requests/Username changes
  2. Open the editing dialogue, ideally in the source editor
  3. Add the following to the end of the section and save. Feel free to add to the reasoning, I'm writing it based on what we talked about:
=== Oldname ==={{SRUC|status = <!--don't change this line-->|domain = global|Oldname = Mignon~enwiki|Newname = Mignon|reason = Requesting to usurp Mignon which is an old account of mine. The SUL finalization renamed this account to Mignon~enwiki. I would like to keep the username Mignon, but I don't have access to that account anymore because there's no email associated with it.--~~~~}}
Then a steward will take a look. Worst case, you get a no, and you can follow the steps for a rename atSpecial:GlobalRenameRequest. Feel free to ping me with {{ping|Wugapodes}} if you need help.Wug·a·po·des23:39, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clear any potential confusion, usurps are always done via Steward requests/Username changes and not GlobalRenameRequest. The latter is meant for straightforward requests where the newly chosen username does not yet exist. Best regards,A09|(talk)11:53, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clearing that up! Sorry for the confusion.Wug·a·po·des04:50, 27 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I just submitted a request.Mignon~enwiki (talk)21:46, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromBelleParisienne (22:32, 29 January 2026)

[edit]

I'd like to translate a wikipedia page since I can speak multiple languages. How can I do this? --BelleParisienne (talk)22:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

HiBelleParisienne, you should start by readingour guide on translation. The basics are: make sure the translated text isneutral, has citations, does not have original research, and when you publish you changes make sure you include in the edit summary a note that you translated the text and aninterwiki link to the page you translated from. You can usethe content translation tool to help with your translation as well.Wug·a·po·des20:54, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromC2014Dale (12:38, 2 February 2026)

[edit]

I have an article that was previously deleted. Now that I understand how to avoid my errors I'd like to resubmit the article using the same title. Is there a way to resubmit a new article under the same title of the deleted one? If not, I can change the title. --C2014Dale (talk)12:38, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Resubmission

[edit]

I made edits to my previous submission and resolved my question regarding the title.C2014Dale (talk)21:15, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

HiC2014Dale, thanks for your interest and perseverance! I foundyour draft and it needs some work before it could be considered. The major problem right now is that there's nothing inside the reference templates. Can you tell me what book or webpage you're using to back up what you're writing? Remember that you should be writing in your own words, and avoid writing something very close to the original source.Wug·a·po·des08:14, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I will add those today. I have them, but must have inadvertantly omitted them. Thank you for your time.C2014Dale (talk)12:07, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I have updated the references and appreciate any guidance or suggestions you provide.C2014Dale (talk)15:45, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This is looking good,C2014Dale! I haven't done a close read yet, but the sources are strong and the individual seems notable. It should be ready to publish as an article soon, but give me a few days to look at it more closely. Thanks for your work on this. I'm excited to see the article grow!Wug·a·po·des07:11, 5 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your time on this.C2014Dale (talk)15:45, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
