Thank you today for the article, introduced: "Rose Cleveland was the sister of U.S. President Grover Cleveland. He had not yet married when he became president in 1885, so she served as acting first lady until his wedding the following year. Despite all of the excitement in Washington, recent scholarship has taken more interest in the years after, when she began a same-sex relationship with Evangeline Marrs Whipple and moved to Italy. The couple provided assistance for refugees of World War I and the Spanish flu, of which Cleveland herself died in 1918. This is the sixth U.S. first lady article I'm submitting as a featured article candidate, part of a project I began with WP:Women in Green, and the first not to be the wife of a president."! --Gerda Arendt (talk)05:47, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Athavale, Swadhyay Movement

Hi @Thebiguglyalien, I saw on the Templeton Prize page that there was no picture for Athavale and was hoping you might have an idea or a hyperlink for how to do it? Hemmingweigh, it looks like there are no free images of Athavale. The one on the article about him is not licensed, so it's subject toWP:NONFREE and how we can use it is limited. We would need a freely licensed one to add it to the table.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸15:22, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromMrNobodyInChat (13:57, 30 September 2025)

[edit]

I have a few questions about an edit I did on the AFCI (Arc-fault circiut interrupter) article, which don't seem to be there anymore. I'd like to know why that is the case, and how I can fix this. Thank you. --MrNobodyInChat (talk)13:57, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HelloMrNobodyInChat, it looks like your edit was undone by another editor because it wasn't an improvement to the article. A reference to something a YouTuber did isn't really relevant to the subject of AFCIs in general. Wikipedia articles are based on whatreliable sources write about when covering a topic, and reliable sources about AFCIs don't usually talk about Electroboom.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸16:40, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromGttbgff (19:25, 25 October 2025)

[edit]

Hey I wanted to see if you could update the 2028 democratic primary and put Kamala harris expressed interest thank you --Gttbgff (talk)19:25, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HelloGttbgff! It looks like our coverage of the 2028 Democratic primary is under a section at2028 United States presidential election, and she's already listed as "expressed interest" there. It's likely that it will warrant its own article in a couple years once there's enough information that it won't fit in a single section. And keep in mind that if you add information without a source, that makes it much more likely to be removed.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸04:03, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Political science, eh?

[edit]
Goats invented politics and I don't know why.

As someone who mostly gets by on his looks I am often forced to try to outsource the problems I see to brainy types.

Iran Experts Initiative ispretty bad. I didsome cleanup work but the article needs someone who actually knows how to deal with such things. Its more right-wing US than Iran/Saudi. I tried onNPOVN but no dice.Polygnotus (talk)02:49, 5 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've actually been going throughCategory:Wikipedia neutral point of view disputes to try and get it under control. I can definitely give this one some extra attention. It looks like a lot of work has already been done on this one, is there anything in particular you're looking at besides the sources? And I would tell you exactly why goats invented politics, but it would take too long and involve hearing things that cannot be unheard.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸03:10, 5 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
is there anything in particular you're looking at Itry not to! I made the mistake of looking at the edits of some of the accounts involved in this andsimilararticles and I know I can easily spend like 6 months to 36 years doing a deep dive on stuff like this. I don't trust this Jean character; she looks way too comfortable. Generally speaking when I start making editslike this one something is wrong.Polygnotus (talk)03:18, 5 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

But those ones are scary! Jokes aside, a lot of those are going to be ones where it's still actively being discussed and doesn't need a quick fix. [edit]

If there's less information when making your article references, what do I do? --Arkinchees (talk)00:53, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You'll need to do some research to find references. If you can't find any good ones, then you probably can't make an article about that thing. But if you can find some good sources, then you'll take all of the relevant information you can from them. Is that what you were asking?Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸05:32, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wrongfully submitted article for deletion

[edit]

Hello, so recently I have created anarticle which has recently been wrongfully submitted as a candidate for deletion by one of your peers, despite me constantly improving on it, I have used grammarly for the task yes, however most were still my words that I poured blood, sweat and tears and despite this my article has been put under a deletion category, for not listing enough sources, however after finding enough sources I have resubmitted my appeal numerous times which only got ignored and ghosted by the individual who categorized my article under candidates for deletion. I have improved the article sources, listing it under the relevant source of information. If you could you could please take a look and favorably remove the deletion bar, that would be great, thank you.Johanxhi (talk)10:47, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HelloJohanxhi, once an article is nominated for deletion, it's open for discussion to anyone and will generally stay open for at least a week so there's a chance for more voices to be heard. One bit of advice often given to newer editors is that creating a page from scratch is often much more difficult than improving an existing one, as there are a bunch of different criteria involved in what can have its own article. One of the key points is that there has to besignificant independent coverage from reliable sources. For a musician, this will usually mean several pages of detailed reviews of their work or coverage of their lives in major press outlets. Things like Spotify just prove that they exist, not that they're significant enough to have substantial press coverage. Also be careful about making the article seem too promotional. Right now it reads as very laudatory like it's trying to celebrate his success, and that will make other editors skeptical of why the article exists.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸14:41, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, so I significantly improved my article and was wandering if you please re-look into my article thank you.Johanxhi (talk)00:42, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Electrowow source could help since it has a little coverage of him, but on its own it might not be enough. For it to be kept, it has to be proven that other sources actually consider him to be notable. Ultimately, it's going to be down to the people who show up to the discussion. If no biographies have been written about him or no independent outlets have covered his history, then UNKLFNKL might just not be a major musician.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸00:54, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Restore deleted article; Indie Recordings

[edit]

The article about the Norwegian record label Indie Recordingshas been deleted from the English Wikipedia, citing “notability”/NCORP as the reason. This label has been behind 11 winners of the Spellemannprisen (the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy Awards), and its artist roster has more blue links than red ones across international Wikipedias. The article has previously been nominated for deletion twice but survived both times for the following reasons: the label has a solid artist roster, and record labels rarely receive press coverage themselves — that attention usually goes to the artists. It is also important to point out that Indie Recordings has played—and continues to play—an important role for the metal genre.

The most recent (third) deletion nomination did not take these arguments into account, and unfortunately, I missed the discussion. Indie Recordings also has Wikipedia articles in nine other languages, but is no longer on the English Wikipedia.

How should I proceed if I want to restore the article, if possible?Birdesigns (talk)13:31, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Birdesigns, your best bet would be to find severalreliable and independent sources with significant coverage. That's really the only surefire way to prove that a subject warrants an article. The sources don't have to be in English. If you think that the deletion discussion was closed prematurely, you can follow the process atWikipedia:Deletion review, but be aware that it's a high bar to have a deletion undone through there. Also note that the two previous deletion discussions were in 2009 and 2012, and the standards for notability have changed since then, so they don't help that much with precedent.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸15:10, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I will consider it. I really don't understand this deletion; I reckon, most of the time, energy would be better spent creating new articles than looking for exisiting ones to delete. Pet peeve of mine. :)Birdesigns (talk)23:30, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There's an ongoing problem where people create articles for every random person or thing, often for promotional purposes. There are other websites that try to be Wikipedia but without notability rules, and they end up being unusable. So there has to be some standard, and there has to be an enforcement mechanism. Of course, the debate on where to draw that line is as old as Wikipedia itself.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸23:51, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HelloMIKER84, it looks like you're trying to remove it without explaining why. Curious about your edits to YG article

[edit]

Hi,

I was wondering if you could provide reasoning for these edits you make toYG (the rapper)'s page.

Your edit comment states that you are "mov[ing] controversy into the correct place chronologically" even though the song was released in 2014 and the controversy brewed for several years and occurred in 2021, which makes it hard to pinpoint "chronological" accuracy. Since this paragraph discusses public backlash over perceived racist lyrics, this controversy paragraph is also markedly different from the standard Career material of album releases, song releases, label information, and other items directly pertinent to his music career, so it seems out of place to place it in his Career section. Besides, there is nothing wrong with having a Controversy section in a BLP as far as I know. Plenty of rappers' pages have Controversy sections over things that they've said/done.

Your edit comment states that you want to "avoid segregating negative content". Please do expound on what you mean by that, why that is important for an online encyclopedia, and if there are any WP policies that support your mission here. Again, plenty of BLP's have legal issues sections. I'm not sure what the exact policy regarding specific sections in a BLP is, but I count that YG has at least 6 known legal issues occurring over 2012-2024, which seems significant enough to have its own section rather than just being chucked in the Personal Life section.

I think it would be helpful for me to understand your motivations with these edits here, thanks.Wikipedious1 (talk)00:26, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedious1, to answer your question:
  • WP:STRUCTURE warns against segregating content by whether it's negative or positive.
  • WP:BLPBALANCE warns against collecting negative content in articles about living people.
  • WP:BALASP warns against detailed focus on isolated events and criticisms.
If there are many rappers with controversy sections in their articles, then there is a serious problem with the topic area in terms of its compliance with BLP and NPOV.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸00:45, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response Thebiguglyalien, I do have some confusion in several areas.
  • The content of WP:STRUCTURE does not seem to support what you are claiming. As far as I can see, nowhere in the explanation of STRUCTURE is it claimed that "negative or positive" content should not be "segregated". "Segregation" is discussed in this context:Segregation of text or other content into different regions or subsections, based solely on the apparent POV of the content itself, may result in an unencyclopedic structure, such as a back-and-forth dialogue between proponents and opponents with an additional note thatSegregation of text or other content into different regions or subsections, based solely on the apparent POV of the content itself, may result in an unencyclopedic structure, such as a back-and-forth dialogue between proponents and opponents I fail to see what relevance this has to separating YG's allegedly racist lyrics controversy from the Career section, or his Legal Issues from his personal life. Please do expound on what exactly you mean by "positive" and "negative" since these do not appear in WP:STRUCTURE and seem subjective.
  • BLPBALANCE statesDo not give disproportionate space to particular viewpoints; the views of small minorities should not be included at all. Care must be taken with article structure to ensure the overall presentation and section headings are broadly neutral. Beware of claims that rely on guilt by association, and biased, malicious or overly promotional content. I fail to see the relevance for not including a Legal Issues page and where your claim is supported here. It seems you may be confusing criticism, or particular viewpoints, with incidents and events. Even if you wanted to make this conflation, BLPBALANCE statesCriticism and praise should be included [...] so long as the material is presented responsibly, conservatively, and in a disinterested tone which is exactly how the "Meet the Flockers" controversy and YG's legal issues are described on the page.
  • Please do share where you believe detailed focus on isolated events and criticisms has occurred on YG's page. If you are referring to the "Meet the Flockers" controversy, I'd appreciate it if you could specify why having a controversy section for this controversy is too detailed of a focus on the controversy, when there are multiple reliable sources covering this controversy occurring over several years.
Wikipedious1 (talk)01:54, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The issue here is that you're taking negative information about a living person and not only giving it heavy focus but actively highlighting it in a way that portrays the figure in a negative light instead of neutrally. Wikipedia is not a place to collect criticisms and attacks against individuals.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸03:32, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If YG has legal issues or a controversy over his lyrics, and reliable sources report this, it is not "taking negative information" or "collecting attacks against individuals" to include this information in his article under relevant subheadings. It is not giving heavy focus to these incidents or "portraying" the figure "negatively" (again, whatever that means, since it seems you refuse to explain your use of "positive" and "negative") to collect information under relevant subheadingsresponsibly, conservatively, and in a disinterested tone.Wikipedious1 (talk)18:25, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Edit, Giorgio Moroder Academy awards

[edit]

Hi, I have been notified you are my wiki mentor, wondering if you can help with something.

I have been trying to add Giorgio Moroder to the list of 3 time academy award winners, but this guy keeps reverting it. I dont want to keep editing it and it gets reverted.

Please can you help with what I am doing wrong, I have asked on the talk page but noone has provded any feedback.

Edits were made on 28th April 25, talk page is under "giorgio Moroder".

Thanks!MrYehboi (talk)20:21, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. Normally I would say you need to add the citation in the edit, but that article has an unusual structure and doesn't use citations for its tables. Either way, you were right to make a post on the talk page and I'm sorry that no one responded.Tbhotch might be able to weigh in on the reverts, but big picture that article probably needs a larger revamp if issues like this are to be avoided.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸20:35, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Moroderhasn't won 3 Oscars for songwriting. He has won 2 Oscars for songwriting and 1 for scoring. The edit summary was misleading.Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0)22:29, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Tbhotch, but he has won 3 Oscars total, doesn't that mean he's currently an omission on the list? Or am I misreading it?Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸22:36, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but I read the edit summary, not what was being added.Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0)22:51, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
MrYehboi, I've restored your edit and apologize for the trouble. Feel free to drop me a message if there's ever any other editing you need help with! 😊Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸23:12, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
