Hello Katzrockso. I noticed you contested my proposed deletion ofGhazi Nara a couple days ago. There's nothing wrong with that of course, but I would have appreciated it if you left a message at my talk page. I was wondering if you were still looking for sources for the article, because if you were unable to find any, I plan on nominating it for deletion.Chess enjoyer (talk)09:36, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you have any knowledge on finding sources for this?

Thanks for responding to me on USAir Flight 499, but I think it would make that article notable. I am wondering if you could maybe try to find sources on Vasp Flight 780?Zaptain United (talk)03:33, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Zaptain United
I couldn't find too much on VASP Flight 780. I'm assuming this is in reference toDraft:VASP Flight 780? I'm not an expert in searching in Portuguese, but there are some sources on the Portuguese Wikipedia atpt:Voo VASP Cargo 780, but it looks like that is how the English Wikipedia was started. There is this recent article[1] about the crash in reference to the history of aviation inAcre, Brazil.
I did find this book[2] that covers a number of Brazilian plane accidents, though, but this crash wasn't mentioned.Katzrockso (talk)03:59, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Bearian, I see that there is already a source in the external links section. While it is standard Wikipedia citation practice and required that sources are provided in-line for BLP articles (and indeed that would be the first start for cleaning up this article),WP:BLPPROD requires that there are no external links in the article to delete the article. I added another citation in-line to assuage any concerns, but there were some others I found.Katzrockso (talk)01:50, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Arabic Translations and Nisba 3O

[edit]

Hi, this is regarding the Third Opinion you provided

The talk-page section was closed before I had a chance to request some further clarification, so I’m posting my previously written message here instead. Apologies for the extra hassle.

  • 'From my understanding,Katzrockso suggested that the resolution would be to remove Somali from the lead and include both Somali and Arabic in the footnote, as both languages are closely related to the subject of this page. Whether Arabic must be considered 'native' for inclusion is irrelevant. This would also help avoid 'cluttering' - his words, not mine - which is true. Can you please confirm, Katzrockso? Regarding the nisba, I’ve already said that I will respect whichever opinion is given in the third opinion request and will not object to it. I still believe it is notWP:UNDUE, but I will accept the outcome regardless'

CqHydra (talk)02:18, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

TL;DR - could you clarify whether your third opinion meant that both Somali and Arabic should be included in a footnote, rather than having one, the other, or both appear in the lead section?CqHydra (talk)02:20, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Originally I thought that the Isaaq tribe was significantly associated with both Arabic and Somali languages, which would have warranted transforming the names to a footnote. However, upon reviewing more sources I did not find evidence for substantial association ofIsaaq with the Arabic language, so I object to changes to introduce the Arabic language version into the lead of the artic.Katzrockso (talk)02:23, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related togender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated ascontentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics anddoesnot imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to ascontentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by theArbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipediaadministrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should editcarefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topicsprocedures, you may ask them at thearbitration clerks' noticeboard or you maylearn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the{{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Could you help me find anymore sources on FedEx Express Flight 087?

I am working on trying to make this article a good article. I have a personal connection to this article since it was the one that got me into Wikipedia editing. @Zaptain UnitedFedEx Express Flight 087 this article?
I found this mention of the incident in the book Country Capitalism[3] discussing the incident in the broader context of the companyFedEx, you could include this information in the background section perhaps discussing the company. There's a video here[4] from the AP.Katzrockso (talk)04:03, 30 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is the article. But what page in the book does it mention the accident? The video seems to be about a completely unrelated overrun of an Airbus. Thanks for trying to find more sources.Zaptain United (talk)04:14, 30 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's on page 133 near the bottom. At least I believe it is this incident, I would have to check the citation given to verify.

Alright I understandZaptain United (talk)03:21, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Zaptain United I didn't find anything additional about this newspaper crash on newspapers.com. There were 2 short stories, but nothing more substantial than the UPI report [indeed one of the newspaper reports directly cites UPI]. There is one more UPI article here[5].
In the comments there, someone posted a picture of a clipping from The Manila Bulletin [Sept. 20, 1987 Sunday edition]. You might be able to ask atWP:RX for a copy of the full newspaper article. I also saw thisAP news report. I also saw on this Facebook post[6] that someone posted a clipping of The Philippine Daily Inquirer 24 September 1987 report on this incident.
Unfortunately, I do not think that this crash passesWP:NEVENT, as there was no lasting coverage or impact. You might be able to include this plane crash in another article, however. I'm not sure what lists there are, but you might be able to make a list of plane crashes that could include this plane crash in it.Katzrockso (talk)03:29, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did you check any Filipino sources? Also, this accident happens atNinoy Aquino International Airport. Could you check if this article mentions this accident in any way?

That appears to just be an image with a caption. I didn't find any corresponding article. The incident was briefly mentioned in this Congressional report[7].
I found what I believe is a mention of this incident in a 1988 edition of the Far Eastern Economic Review, in a piece titled "PAL's not so friendly skies". The clipping is here[8], but the whole article is not easily viewable. You might be able to ask for it atWP:RX.
I did find that this incident is mentioned atList of Philippine Airlines accidents and incidents already.
@Zaptain UnitedKatzrockso (talk)03:49, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I do not have access to Filipino newspapers and I am not aware of any online newspaper archives for Filipino newspapers. You might be able to ask atWikipedia:Tambayan Philippines for further information on how to access their newspaper archives, as this is a region I have done almost no research on.
The article you linked is available on archive.org[9], but does not mention the September 1987 crash. However, given that Rappler appears to be a reliable source and mentions "NAIA runway mishaps over the years", you might be able to create a list of runway accidents at this airport (it conceivably passesWP:NLIST) or perhaps include a short list at the articleNinoy Aquino International Airport.

Fourth Opinion?

[edit]

Hi,Katzrockso; Apologies for bothering you so soon, again. I have a small favor to ask of you. I answered a request for a third-opinion. One of the editors is in disagreement with my opinion. In order to avoid escalation between the two involved editors, and given that the article is relatively niche, I offered to the editor in disagreement to seek a fourth opinion,to which they agreed. I specified that I had you in-mind as I found your assistance with my content dispute to be fair and balanced and I don't feel that anyone could claim that you are anything but neutral. If you're willing to assist, allow me to lay-out the dispute at its most basic level:

I opined that the show should be added. I further opined that the show's addition would bebetter disputed by asserting that its sourcing is not reliable. Additional sources have since been found/added and Media Mender has since claimed consensus and re-added the content. Full discussion may be readhere.MWFwiki (talk)21:09, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, I did not agree. I just didn't offer an objection. As stated, it will likely be moot as I am going to either propose a merge to the main page or a move to an "original programming" list where inclusion criteria could be discussed. Being that I did not revert the OP's ONUS bludgeon, it would also be moot as their preferred version is there. --CNMall41 (talk)21:14, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Katzrockso, like the template says, this isn't implying any wrongdoing. When I see someone new come into the topic area, I just like to make sure people are aware that they're getting into a Contentious Topic so they aren't blindsided by some of the expectations. Most of it is centered aroundWP:1RR and getting consensus for new changes when disputed rather than reinserting them, avoidingWP:ASPERSIONS, etc.
I also want to be clear that I hope none of my comments came across as short towards you. We all just got off of very long contentious content discussion, so most of my comments are moreso addressing the general state the article reached, how we got there, and trying to keep things stable for awhile.KoA (talk)17:06, 5 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For the second one, I found a few contemporary newspaper reports ([11][12]). There was also a court case in 1963[13]. There is a short mention here[14] in "Encyclopedia of African Airlines".

I have found 15 sources so far and have linked all of them on the draft's talk page. Could you check if there are anymore? Thanks for giving me sources on the previous questions by the way.Zaptain United (talk)23:18, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, are you going to reply? If you don't want me asking for sources on your talk page anymore, I will leave you alone.Zaptain United (talk)03:45, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry I didn't respond. I think I looked into this at the time you asked, but I didn't find anything and got distracted before I responded. Let me take another look.

There was a brief mention of this crash in 2004 when another Boeing-747 crashed[15][16], but nothing particularly substantive.Katzrockso (talk)06:57, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a way to access newspaper.com for free? I got the message "You've reached your 5-article limit."Zaptain United (talk)17:21, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Try in an incognito tab or another browser. You might also be able to archive those urls on archive.is or archive.org/web and then access it that way.
You should also be able to request a newspapers.com membership throughWP:The Wikipedia Library (the form is here[17]). I have been a paying subscriber for a number of years, but I know of a few people who got access there.

Feedback

[edit]

Hi! I read your comments and also appreciate your contributions onTri Dao. That said, I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask for your opinion. I do not have dozens of pending drafts, and I occasionally create articles from scratch.

You mentioned that the draft has many issues. Would you mind sharing those with me? I would like to understand, objectively, what the specific issues are. I believe the subject is notable, but I want to know if there is anything else in the article that needs attention. For instance, I did not add the authority boxes at the end. That said, I would appreciate clarity on what exactly needs to be fixed here. How am I supposed to know if I do not ask?

I have added the appropriate infobox, and I do not believe the text is promotional or otherwise inappropriate. For reference, here is first page I previously created about an academic,Venus Seunga Jin.WestwoodHights573 (talk)04:59, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Katzrockso I made some more edits to the intro hereTri Dao and would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what should be included in an article about a professor when you have the time. I have edited someone's else article in the past, and it looks like this now, and this is after my edit, it was not in the best shape.Rita Gunther McGrath. It was not even included she was a director, I added that.WestwoodHights573 (talk)17:43, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of well-sourced content

[edit]

Please do not delete well-sourced information, as you didat Murder of Wu Shuoyan]. See the on-goingRSN discussion.Feoffer (talk)13:41, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Feoffer I am well aware of that RSN discussion. The content in question is from a 25 year old article, is of the opinion of one scholar (so should be attributed if included), is not directly relevant to Introvigne (since the publication in question was not a CESNUR publication, but a respectedOxford University Press). We don't add unrelated criticisms of a person to every mention of their work, this is an obvious SYNTH issue.Katzrockso (talk)14:16, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

RfC closure

[edit]

Unrelated to the Frankfurt discussion - do you know of a way to get some eyes on an RfC closure? A fellow editor requested the closure of the VPP RfC last year, and it's still extant...Danners430tweaks made17:42, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Danners430
Other thanWP:Closure requests orWP:Administrator's noticeboard, not really. If it's been onWP:CR for a while, you can ask for additional eyes atWP:AN but that's not particularly common.Katzrockso (talk)19:27, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Could you check if there are more sources on Widerøe Flight 836?

[edit]

I just want to check if I can make an article on the 1989 near crash. There is information about the incident in theWiderøe Flight 839 final report starting on page 30.

https://www.baaa-acro.com/sites/default/files/2020-07/.pdf

https://www.flynytt.no/vaeroy-ulykken-63-sekunder-som-endret-norsk-luftfart/132644Zaptain United (talk)16:18, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

That first link does not work for me.
That there was an entire National Geographic episode on it is very good, as well as this source. I would say that this near crash is very likely notable due to those sources (flyntt.no, NatGeo), but it would help if you could describe what's in the other source.
@Zaptain United.Katzrockso (talk)17:25, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The other source is the final report for Wideroe Flight 839 and it has 2 pages of information on the near crash starting on page 30. You can go on the article for that crash, go check on the final report, and skip to page 30. I am asking you if you can find another source for the incident since I want more than 3 sources.Zaptain United (talk)17:35, 7 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
