Hello there!! The draft I submitted, Vaishnavi one is not the same as the article “Vaishno Devi”.
On Wikipedia and in many traditional sources, Vaishnavi refers to:
the Matrika / Sapta-Matrika goddess,
a distinct deity found in texts like the Devi Mahatmya, Vishnudharmottara Purana, etc.,
and she has her own iconography, legends, and role separate from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi of Trikuta.Junereads (talk)02:37, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable Sources

[edit]

@Junereads I see that Welcome post above has the links - but want to mention theWP:RS policy here - you made this editSpecial:Diff/1320883560, which seems to be not usingWP:RS - Non-english sources are allowedWP:NONENG, but this source doesn't look like meetingWP:RS. Also including such details about Vaishnodevi in this section isWP:UNDUE. Most of the sources in this section are academic / peer-reviewed secondary sources and it would be helpful if new content maintain usage of such sources.Asteramellus (talk)12:57, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Junereads! I noticed that you recently made an edit atVaishno Devi and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixingtypos or reverting obviousvandalism. Any edit that changes themeaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. I also wanted to let you know that I have reverted your recent edits to the Vaishno Devi page, as a lot of the information wasunsourced and a spot check of one of the information showed that it was copied verbatim fromthat source, which also happens to be a blog, seeWP:BLOG. Feel free to add information back in with verifiable references. If you have any questions, let me know.EM (talk)18:53, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. You said, "Vaishno Devi page, as a lot of the information was unsourced and a spot check of one of the information showed that it was copied verbatim from that source, which also happens to be a blog." I think there might be some confusion. What I actually said was that the bookBadri Bhakta Jhandewalan Devi Mandir refers to the goddess as "Bhawanawali," "Gufawali," "Lattawali," and "Pindi Rani." Vaishno Devi is also referred to as “Vīr Vaishno Devi,” a title used in devotional recitations to highlight her protective and courageous nature. I also mentioned the bookShri Vaishno Devi Ki Puri Kahani (Bhavani Pustak Mahal, Katra). I used reliable sources, and I did not copy the information from the blog. Maybe the blog used the same books, which is why there is this misunderstanding.Junereads (talk)10:20, 8 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As far as her names, I was referring tothis which has no sources listed.
But more importantly, I was also mostly referring to thisedit. If you look at the last bit which starts with "Upon entering the Cave he found a rock form with three heads atop it. At that moment Mata Vaishno Devi appeared before him in all her glory (another version says that the Supreme Energies of Mata Maha Saraswati, Mata Maha Lakshmi and Mata Maha Kali appeared in the Holy Cave) and introduced him to the three heads (now known as the Holy Pindies) of the rock form along with various other identification marks in the Holy Cave. She blessed him with a boon of four sons and a right to worship her manifestation and asked him to spread the glory of the Holy Shrine all over. Pandit Shridhar then spent his remaining life in the service of Mata at the Holy Cave", it is sourced tothis article, which has blog in the link itself and the exact words are also found on that page.
Additionally, when you added the above edit to the page, the retrieval dates for the sources are showing up as June 2025 for the blog and December 2018, Sept 2014, etc for other sources. So JW where this information might be from/was it copied from other pages?EM (talk)20:23, 8 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understand. I’m sorry I will make sure to use only reliable sources from now on. It was a mistake, and it happened unintentionally. Thanks.Junereads (talk)04:31, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate it and no problem at all as that's understandable. Also, in case you have copied text from other pages (which is okay) just make sure to attribute it in your edit summary, seeWP:CWW.EM (talk)23:30, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related tothe region ofSouth Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated ascontentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics anddoesnot imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to ascontentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by theArbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipediaadministrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should editcarefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged in, have500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topicsprocedures, you may ask them at thearbitration clerks' noticeboard or you maylearn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the{{Ctopics/aware}} template.

icon Hello, I'mMaterialscientist. I noticed that inthis edit toJhandewali Mata, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with anedit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message onmy talk page. Thank you.Materialscientist (talk)10:08, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for the alert. The edit was not vandalism; it was the result of a detailed consensus reached on the article's Talk Page regardingWP:SYNTH and incorrect terminology. The previous text was admitted by the author to be Original Research. I removed the citations because they did not support the text (Failed Verification), but I understand that removing them without replacement triggered the alert. I will redo the edit with proper citations and a clearer Edit Summary. Thank you.Junereads (talk)10:12, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did withthis edit toVaishno Devi, without giving a valid reason for the removal in theedit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has beenreverted. Please make use of thesandbox if you would like to experiment with test edits. Thank you.Materialscientist (talk)13:06, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and thank you for your message. I recently added some information to the article, which I believe is supported by reliable sources in line with Wikipedia’s content policies. I understand that you restored some of the material that I had removed earlier, but I am not sure why the new content I contributed was also removed, especially since it is backed by the sources I cited. When you have time, could you please take a look at the article’s Talk page, where I have explained the rationale for my edits and listed the sources I used, so that we can better understand each other’s perspectives? If there are specific concerns about reliability, weight, or how the information is presented, I would really appreciate it if you could point those out so that I can improve the edits accordingly. My intention is to follow Wikipedia policies and collaborate constructively, so I am happy to adjust or refine the content based on your feedback. Thank you again for your time and help.Junereads (talk)13:31, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. A page you created or have recently made significant changes to,Jhandewali Mata, may not conform to some of Wikipedia'sguidelines for pages, so it has beenblanked and redirected toJhandewalan Temple. Three typical reasons for this are that: (1) the article's subject appears to fail ournotability guidelines; (2) the article isunsourced; or (3) the sources used in the article areunreliable. Thepage's history is preserved and it is possible to restore the article: If you believe that this page should remain included on Wikipedia or that this action was taken in error, then you mayrevert the edit that blanked and redirected the page.

Wikipedia:Your first article has more information about creating articles, and you may also want to read ourintroduction page to learn more about contributing.EM (talk)00:49, 11 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
