I thought you were still an admin.

[edit]

I hope you plan to come back. I too went inactive in 2014 and came back in 2017. There had been some changes and I needed to relearn some things and I had to redefine how I work on Wikipedia, but I'm glad I came back. best-- Deepfriedokra (talk)02:46, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, @Deepfriedokra. I was away probably a decade and I had to learn about the subtle changes that had occurred. I'd like to be an admin again but I honestly don't think I'd want to go through an 2024 RfA -- they've become ridiculously grueling since myRfA (86/0/0). Also, I doubt many people are active that remember me as an admin.
Anyway, I'm very much back (other than 4 months earlier this year for an emergency) --A. B.(talkcontribsglobal count)03:08, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Swung by to have a look at your xtools in light of the recent recall discussion, since I know you're one of the inactive admins who returned, butnot to admin activity (the only one I know of actually, are you aware of anyone else?), immediately distracted by this thread. If you're not running this go around, you might want to put yourself up forWP:ORCP to see if anyone digs up any dirt. The five-month break between this election and the next would probably be long enough to convince people you'd taken whatever it was under advisory, if so, so probably better to do it now and get that part of the angst out of the way. --asilvering (talk)16:09, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Glibert Lopez Prod

[edit]

Hi, just wanted to share the situation as to why there was a PROD onthis article that you removed... its related to a series of COI editing by the article creator (under discussion here) and follows a pattern of other articles created by them thathave been deleted at AfD. I didn't want to take it to AfD to rehash all the above, but wanted give an you an explanation about why I put the PROD on there, despite there being coverage on this individual.Nayyn (talk)14:54, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at theGilbert Lopez edit history and wondered about a COI since there was a single editor, but normally those involve platitudes, not negative news. I was unaware of the discussion atWikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Persistent COI editing by Mediascriptor, cross Wiki
Even had I been aware, I wouldn't have factored the COI issue into my consideration. We delete articles based on their suitability for Wikipedia, not the motivations of the article's editor (except forarticles started by previously banned editors).WP:DINC: "Deletion ≠ cleanup. So I evaluated the PROD based on your comment:
  • "Psuedo biography, only discusses case or criminal activity not biography of individual themselves."
To me, the question was based on our policy:
So I thought the community should decide the suitability of this article, not just one editor and an admin. Or me. (Typically, admins going through PRODs move fast and just look to see that nominations don't violate policy; they assume the 7-day period means multiple other editors implicitly agree with the PROD.) I thought your reasoning had merit but that others might disagree: that's why I recommended AfD inmy edit summary:
  • "Remove PROD. Lots of press coverage. I suggest WP:AFD if you still want to delete."

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nicole Rajoharison

[edit]

I actually fully support the statement you removed. This argument ofWP:NEXIST has come up time and time again in athlete AfDs in recent months, people saying there are sources without providing evidence. One editor who was recycling this argument in AfDs has now stopped.LibStar (talk)04:44, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Actually they were stopped after an admin brought the issue to ANI as being disruptive in AfDs.LibStar (talk)04:47, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for telling me this,LibStar. I haven't been involved in many sports AfDs so I didn't know about this problem. I understand where these people are coming from-- you expect there to be some sort of coverage at least in some super-local newspaper but nobody's providing references. It's only when you dig for references yourself that you realize they're not to be found.
Looking back on my childhood days as a rabid sports fan, I recall lots of coverage of the leading players on my favorite team but nothing about the others. If I flew toMadagascar and holed up in theAntananarivo public library, I doubt I'd find anything aboutNicole Rajoharison in the archives other than statistics and some school newspaper articles.--A. Recent AfD Reply

[edit]

Hey, I saw the reply you tried to give in the Nicole Rajoharison AfD, and I wanted clarify that it isn't you who I'm taking issue with. Sure, I disagree with you often, but I think you generally engage in good-faith, respectful discussion. I realize I got a little too soapboxy there, and while I stand by what I said, I probably should have taken it to the talk pages of the specific users who I believe are abusing the system. I disagree with your stance on how much time is appropriate to allot to finding sources, but I wanted to make sure I let you know that I don't have beef with you. I find it upsetting that while it took maybe 10 minutes ofWP:BEFORE to nominateKozo Kinomoto for deletion, it took me probably around 3-4 hours to find enough sources to demonstrate that there are enough out there to establish notability, but that's really just the nature of the process I suppose. I do know you agreed with me in that case, and that you aren't just trying to indiscriminately throw everything into the shredder, which is the issue I have with some editors. I'm sorry if my comment offended you. It was not meant to be directed at you, and was probably in the wrong forum. Best Wishes –Ike Lek (talk)06:04, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Exodus Wallet tag

[edit]

@A. B. Hi there. I saw a tag you placed on an article I created for Exodus saying there may have been undisclosed payments. Please look at my talk page and see that I already worked with senior editors like Caleb Stanford and Pythoncoder and explained that I have no connection with the company - just my interest in cryptocurrency. Then Caleb helped me edit the draft accordingly and he edited himself as well.If there's anything that you think isn't neutral, please guide me on how to fix it, I'll appreciate it big time!Noobx9000 (talk)17:48, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Kayla Barnes-Lentz

[edit]

@A. B. There is a similar tag you placed on Kayla's draft. Again, there is zero connection with Kayla - I wish it were true and I got paid lol. Since I'm comparatively new to Wikipedia (about a year), what I do is that I try to find people that are already notable yet don't have a draft. I then create their pages - this helps in adding credibility to my profile (having published pages under my belt). I have only been able to create 2 pages as of yet and would appreciate any help I can get from you. Please understand that I am trying hard to build my profile and then such tags are a bummer :/

I'd love to work under your guidance. Please help me improve the draft!Noobx9000 (talk)17:56, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Anton Bernolák's Chapel

[edit]

Hello, I suggest you take a look at the Czech article and consider what is has to offer in expanding the one sentence English Wikipedia article. Pay special attention to the reference "V tomto článku byl použit překlad textu z článku Anton Bernolák´s Chapel na anglické Wikipedii.Externí odkazy" which translates to "This article uses a translation of text from the article Anton Bernolák´s Chapel on the English Wikipedia." To avoid an edit war perhaps you can revert your revert of my edit.Gab4gab (talk)15:28, 4 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Is there a way to change UTC time to MT time and turn it to 12 hour clock? I can read it best like that so I understand when an article is made. Sorry though. ~Rafael (He, him) •talkguestbookprojects23:56, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@A. B. I can't find a way to turn it into a 12 hour clock. ~Rafael (He, him) •talkguestbookprojects00:19, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid I don't know how to do that, either. I suggest you ask atWikipedia:Teahouse, where people are available to answer questions.A. B.(talkcontribsglobal count)00:59, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. ~Rafael (He, him) •talkguestbookprojects01:20, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know that Wikipedia has a way to switch to a 12-hour clock. However, learning how to read a 24-hour clock is fairly simple. If it's before 1 PM, it's basically the same. For example, 1:50 AM is 1:50 on a 24-hour clock; similarly, 12:25 PM is 12:25 on a 24-hour clock. The one difference is that 0:00 is 12:00 AM, so 0:45, for example, is 12:45 AM. Once you get past 12, you'll just subtract 12 from the hour. For example, 13:20 is 1:20 PM, an 22:15 is 10:15 PM. I hope this helps!Significa liberdade(she/her) (talk)03:40, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you added a reference to a book in that article. Wouldn't that fit more into the bibliography (because I noticed it wasn't an inline citation)?Ell22Moore (talk)03:22, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Or am I incorrect?Ell22Moore (talk)03:23, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I know the answer (I should). I'm happy with putting it in either place. I think the article is likely to get deleted so it probably doesn't make much difference. --A. B.(talkcontribsglobal count)04:47, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it appears that this book is a denominational history written by members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Therefore, I think it’s best to classify it as a primary source rather than an independent secondary source.Ell22Moore (talk)03:32, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This ref came up in my search so I thought it might be helpful to someone if the article is retained. It may or may not be more than three passing mentions. It's published by a non-affiliated, respected publisher, so I consider it independent. I looked at free previews of pages 440 and 463; neither of them was significant in coverage. I couldn't see page 493. --A. B.(talkcontribsglobal count)04:50, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Notability of An Article

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you removed my request for deletion on a vanity page created for my late father, Dr. Manjur Karim. Apart from being his son, I lived with him in Bangladesh for the entire duration of his teaching career at BRAC University (2006 through 2014). I question, frankly, his notability or why this page concerning him should exist. Do you have any familiarity with him? I noted that the cited sources are not actually very good; if "sources" like those connote notability, I could create pages for any number of my acquaintances. Simply put - my dad and his personal history are not (in my view) valid Wikipedia material.~2025-31795-28 (talk)18:44, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your father might or might not be notable according to our guidelines. I removed your proposed deletion tag since it looked like he was. Take a look at our Articles for Deletion process (WP:AFD) -- it's for articles like this one where multiple editors weigh in, as opposed to just one like myself.
Thanks for reaching out to me. If you run into any obstacles with AFD, let me know. --A. B.(talkcontribsglobal count)18:54, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
