Tre Avery (born February 26, 1997) is an American professionalfootballcornerback for theSan Francisco 49ers of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theRutgers Scarlet Knights.
Avery grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended St. Francis Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, andFranklin High School.[1]
On May 3, 2015, Avery committed to play football atOhio State, but transferred to Toledo after an eligibility issue at Ohio State, redshirting there before transferring a second time to Rutgers.[2][3][4]

On May 13, 2022, Avery signed with theTennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent, and made the 53-man roster to start the regular season following final cuts.[6] He played 14 games during the2022 season, making 29 total tackles, nine pass deflections, and a fumble recovery.[7]
Avery played 15 games during the2023 season, making 33 total tackles and two pass deflections.[8]
Avery was waived by the Titans on August 27, 2024, and re-signed to the practice squad.[9][10] He was elevated to the active roster on October 15.[11] Avery appeared in nine games during the2024 season, making three tackles onspecial teams.[12] He was released on December 28, 2024.[13]
On December 30, 2024, the 49ers claimed Avery off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.[14]
