Three Sassy Sisters (Indonesian:Ini Kisah Tiga Dara; lit.This Is a Story of Three Maidens) is a 2016 Indonesianmusical film directed byNia Dinata. The film starsTara Basro, Shanty, and Tatyana Akman as the three sisters. It was inspired by 1956 filmTiga Dara byUsmar Ismail.[1]
The film follows three sisters who move toMaumere,Flores to help their father manage a hotel.[2]
Dinata revealed that she had enjoyed watchingTiga Dara as a child and that she remained awed by the film's beauty.[3]Titiek Puspa revealed that Dinata herself approached and asked her to be involved in the film.[4] The film was shot inMaumere,East Nusa Tenggara andJakarta, from February 23 to March 27, 2016.[5]
In January 2016, Dinata held a casting audition, to find the actress who would play Bebe, the youngest sister.[6] A reality show documenting the processMencari Tiga Dara was released on the film'sYouTube official channel. Nine aspiring actresses were shortlisted,Asmara Abigail,Tatyana Akman [id],Nala Amrytha [id],Meirayni Fauziah [id],Alika Islamadina [id],Cindy Nirmala [id],Dea Panendra,Galabby Thahira [id], and Araminta Waworuntu.[7]
Three Sassy Sisters features music byTitiek Puspa, Aghi Narottama, and Bemby Gusti of Indonesian indie bandSore. It includes two songs . The film's soundtrack, titledMusic and Songs from the Film Ini Kisah Tiga Dara, was released on July 20, 2016 through Rooftopsound Records.[8]
