It was built in the mid-19th century, and was saved from demolition in 1996.[2]
The pub was originally in a row of cottages along theA56 fromManchester to Altrincham. The cottages were demolished for the development of Altrincham Retail Park.[3]
On 20 July 1993, the Railway Inn was Grade II listed.[1]
