To use thisBarnstar template, create a new section on the user talkpage of the user you want to give the award to, and add{{subst:Barnstar of National Merit|1=Put your message here.}}to the talk page of the user to whom you wish to award it.
This barnstar has an alternate version.
To use, add|2=alt to the end:{{subst:Barnstar of National Merit|1=Put your message here.|2=alt}}
Which produces:
