Riken should not be capitalized because it is not an acronym. Writing it as "RIKEN" is just stupid and poor style. Let them use all-caps on their own website; it does not belong in an encyclopedia article.
This is simply not true. RIKEN in Japanese is 理研, which is an acronym for理(ri)化学研(ken)究所. It is the Japanese equivalent of an acronym in English. I don't think this is a really big deal, but the English pronunciation is given as /ˈrɪkɛn/, with a link to an intro video. Normally I (and others) use i instead of I, so that it sounds more like "free Ken". But I think many people would also pronounce it as it is written. But I would prefer to have the i. I the reference video, I think that at 0:00:13, Pres. Matsumoto does indeed say something that sounds like /ˈrɪkɛn/, but at 0:00:23, it sounds like rikEn.
