Stephen F. Jones (bornc. 1953) is anEnglish expert on post-Communist societies in the formerSoviet Union andEastern Europe who currently serves as Chair ofRussian andEurasian Studies atMount Holyoke College,South Hadley,Massachusetts.[1]
Jones received his B.A. in 1974 from theUniversity of Essex, his Ph.D. from theLondon School of Economics in 1984.[2] He has taught at theUniversity of California, Santa Cruz (1986), theUniversity of London (1986-88), and at theUniversity of Oxford (1988–89).[1]
Jones specializes in the history and politics of theSouth Caucasus nations (Georgia,Armenia,Azerbaijan). He speaks fluentGeorgian and readsRussian andFrench fluently.[1] He has lectured at various schools in the United States and regularly briefs theCIA andU.S. State Department in theCaucasus.[1][3]
