St Peter, Paul's Wharf , was aChurch of England parish church in theCity of London .[ 1] It was destroyed in theGreat Fire in 1666 .[ 2]
First mentioned in the 12th century,[ 3] it stood to the north ofUpper Thames Street inQueenhithe Ward.[ 4] The parish was defiant in continuing to use theBook of Common Prayer [ 5] during theCivil War .[ 6]
St Peter's was, along with most of the City's otherparish churches , destroyed by the Great Fire in 1666. A Rebuilding Act was passed and a committee set up underSir Christopher Wren to decide which would be rebuilt.[ 7] Fifty-one were chosen, but St Peter Paul's Wharf[ 8] was not among them.[ 9] Following the fire, the parish was united with that ofSt Benet Paul's Wharf .[ 10]
