TheSimte[1] are one of theZo ethnic tribe inNortheast India. They are mainly concentrated in the southern parts of the state ofManipur. Most of the Simte are descendants of Ngaihte. Sim means South in their dialect. Simte people mainly settled inThanlon Sub-Division, Lamka town inChurachandpur,Manipur, Motbung, Leimakhong and parts of Nagaland areas. A significant number also are settled in neighbouring areas ofMizoram andAssam.[citation needed] There are also Simte inChin State inMyanmar.[2]
