Seyssel (French pronunciation:[sɛsɛl];Arpitan:Sèssél) is acommune in theHaute-Savoiedepartment in theAuvergne-Rhône-Alpesregion in south-easternFrance.
The part of the town across theRhône is also namedSeyssel but located on the western bank of the Rhône in theAin department. It is a rare case in France of two homonymous communes adjacent to each other, similar to the situation of the village ofSaint-Santin, divided between the communes ofSaint-Santin (Aveyron) andSaint-Santin-de-Maurs (Cantal).
TheFier forms most of the commune's southern border, then flows into theRhône, which forms the commune's western border.
