Scott David Durant (born 12 February 1988) is a Britishrower and gold medallist in the Men's Eight at the2016 Olympic Summer Games.[1][2]
Durant, along with his brother Mason, started his rowing career atLancaster Royal Grammar School (LRGS) they have since had a boat named after them in the school boat club fleet. He competed at the2014 World Rowing Championships inBosbaan,Amsterdam, where he won a silver medal as part of the coxed pair withAlan Sinclair andHenry Fieldman.[3] The following year he was part of the British team that topped the medal table at the2015 World Rowing Championships atLac d'Aiguebelette in France, where he won a bronze medal as part of the coxless four with Alan Sinclair,Tom Ransley andStewart Innes.[4] He competed in the2015 European Rowing Championships inPoznań winning a gold medal.
He was a gold medallist in themen's eight at the2016 Summer Olympics withTom Ransley,Andrew Triggs Hodge,Matt Gotrel,Pete Reed,Paul Bennett,Matt Langridge,Will Satch andPhelan Hill .
Durant was appointedMember of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to rowing.[5][6]
