Richard Cust (1728 – 16 October 1783) was an English clergyman who served asChaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons,Dean of Rochester andDean of Lincoln.
Cust was the son ofSir Richard CustBt and his wife Anne Brownlow, daughter ofSir William BrownlowBt MP.[1] He was educated atMerton College, Oxford, matriculating in 1745 aged 17, graduatingB.A. 1749,M.A. 1752,B.D. &D.D. 1763.[2]
Cust was Speaker's Chaplain to his brother, SpeakerSir John CustBt MP. He was appointed a Canon ofChrist Church, Oxford in October 1765,[3] and rector ofBelton, Lincolnshire in 1770.[1] He also served asDean of Rochester 1779–1782 andDean of Lincoln 1782–1783.
Cust died on 16 October 1783 atThe Old Deanery, Lincoln.[3]
In 1767, Cust married Mary Harris, daughter of Rev. George Harris.[4] He died without issue.[5]
