PureOS is aLinux distribution focusing on privacy and security, using theGNOME orKDE Plasmadesktop environment.[2][3][4] It is maintained byPurism for use in the company'sLibrem laptop computers as well as theLibrem 5 smartphone.[5][6]

PureOS is designed to include onlyfree software, and is included in the list of Free Linux distributions published by theFree Software Foundation.[7][8]

PureOS is aDebian-based Linux distribution, mergingopen-source software packages from the Debian “testing” main archive using a hybridpoint release androlling release model.[9] The default web browser in PureOS isGNOME Web.[10] The default search engine isDuckDuckGo.

The mobile interface of PureOS,Phosh, the GNOME mobile shell, developed byPurism andGNOME (2018-05)[11]
