Psychotridine is analkaloid found in some species of the genusPsychotria, namelyPsychotria colorata,[1] but alsoPsychotria forsteriana,[2]Psychotria lyciiflora,[3]Psychotria oleoides,[3] andPsychotria beccarioides.[4] Psychotridine hasanalgesic effects and dose-dependently inhibitsdizocilpine binding to cortical membranesin vitro, suggesting that it acts as anon-competitiveNMDA receptor antagonist.[1]
