Pratap Govindrao Pawar is an Indian industrialist, and the chairman and managing director atSakal Papers Pvt. Ltd.[1] The Government of India awarded him thePadma Shri in 2014 for his contributions to trade and industry.[2][3] He is also the chairman ofCollege of Engineering Pune located inShivajinagar, Pune.[citation needed]
Pawar is a former president of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), Pune, theIndian Newspaper Society and the Indian Language Newspapers Association.[4] He is a member of the executive committee of theWorld Association of Newspapers and News Publishers, Paris, and aUGC-nominee at thePress Council of India.[5] He also serves on the director boards of several companies[4] and is a recipient of thePunyabhushan Award.[3] In 2014, the Government of India awarded him thePadma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honor, for his contributions to trade and industry.[6]
Pawar is the younger brother ofNationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaderSharad Pawar.[2]
