ThePoetic Books, also called theSapiential Books, are a division of theChristianBible grouping 5 or 7 books (depending on the canon) in theOld Testament.[1] The term "Sapiential Books" refers to the same set, although not all thePsalms are usually regarded as belonging to theWisdom tradition.[2]
In terms of theTanakh, it includes the three poetic books ofKetuvim, as well asEcclesiastes and theSong of Songs from theFive Megillot.Wisdom andSirach are also part of the Poetic Books, but are not part of the Hebrew Bible, and are seen by Protestant Christians asapocryphal, for which reason they are excluded fromProtestant Bibles.
