Orlando Beltran Quevedo (Spanish pronunciation:[keˈβeðo]; born 11 March 1939) is aFilipino prelate of theCatholic Church. Acardinal since 2014, he wasArchbishop of Cotabato from 1998 to 2018. He became a bishop in 1980.
Orlando Beltran Quevedo was born on 11 March 1939, inLaoag,Ilocos Norte. Beginning in 1945, he attended grades 1 to 3 in Laoag Shamrock School, and finished grades 4 to 6 in Marbel Central Elementary School inMarbel, South Cotabato, graduating in 1950. He attendedNotre Dame High School in Marbel from 1950 to 1954.[1]
Quevedo studied atSan José Seminary from 1954 to 1956, but spent hisnovitiate in St. Peter's Novitiate inMission, Texas. He earned his degree in philosophy from San José Seminary in 1960, and in 1964 received his S.T.B. and MA in Religious Education fromOblate College (Catholic University of America) inWashington, D.C. He was ordained a priest of theMissionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on 5 June 1964.[1]
In 1964, he was assigned assistantparish priest of Cotabato Cathedral.[1]
Quevedo was appointedBishop-Prelate of Kidapawan byPope John Paul II on 28 October 1980.[2] Upon the prelature's elevation to diocese, he assumed the title Bishop of Kidapawan.
On 22 March 1986, he was namedArchbishop of Nueva Segovia inIlocos Sur, and[2] on 30 May 1998, he was namedArchbishop of Cotabato.[2]
On 12 January 2014, Pope Francis named Quevedo as one of 19 men to be inducted into theCollege of Cardinals in theconsistory of 22 February 2014, with the titular church ofSanta Maria "Regina Mundi" a Torre Spaccata.[3][4] He is the first cardinal fromMindanao[4] and, until his 80th birthday, the second Filipino cardinal-elector, along withLuis Antonio Tagle,Archbishop of Manila. Pope Francis named him member in Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue.
On 6 November 2018, Pope Francis accepted Quevedo's resignation as archbishop.[5]
Cardinal Quevedo ceased to be a cardinal-elector on his 80th birthday.

In 1994 Quevedo received the most votes for election to the General Council of the Secretariat of theSynod of Bishops inRome.[4]
Quevedo is a former secretary-general of theFederation of Asian Bishops' Conferences and former president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.[6]
