Octatetraynyl radical (C8H) is anorganicfree radical with eightcarbon atoms linked in alinear chain with alternatingsingle bonds andtriple bonds (H−C≡C−C≡C−C≡C−C≡C•).
In 2007 negatively charged octatetraynyl was detected in Galactic molecular sourceTMC-1, making it the second type ofanion to be found in theinterstellar medium (afterhexatriynyl radical) and the largest such molecule detected to date.[1][2]
