Village in as-Suwayda, Syria
Nimreh (Arabic:نمرة, also calledNamara) is a village in southernSyria, administratively part of theal-Suwayda Governorate, located northeast ofal-Suwayda. It is situated on the northern end ofJabal al-Arab. Nearby localities includeShaqqa,Hit andal-Junayneh to the north,Shahba,Salim andMardak to the west andMafaalah andQanawat to the southwest. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Nimreh had a population of 4,376 in the 2004 census.[1]
In 1838Eli Smith noted Nimreh as being located inHauran Sanjak, and inhabited byDruze and "Greek" Christians.[2]
