I've noticed an issue with the module and{{Infobox election}}. The latter does not accept written colour names (e.g. 'blue'), only hexadecimal colour codes. I'm guessing it's better to fix the template rather than the module (as many parties listed in the modules have colour names), but would anyone be able to do it? SpecificallyModule:Infobox election will need fixing.{{Infobox legislative election}} works fine with colour names.Number5715:52, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging the module creatorAhecht for info. Ahecht, I think this only became an issue fairly recently, which I'm guessing coincided with the creation of the module. Are you able to fix it?Number5715:53, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Number 57 I don't think the module changed that behavior -- the pre-module template always inserted a "#" before the value incolorN=, which would prevent named colors from being used. In any case, it's an easy enough fix, so I've modifiedModule:Infobox election/sandbox (used by{{Infobox election/sandbox}}) to be a little more intelligent about when it inserts a "#". Please try it out and let me know if it works as expected.--Ahecht (TALK PAGE)14:59, 25 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ahecht: It seems to be causing problems again. The colours of the last two parties listed in the infobox on the2026 Nepalese general election are not showing; both of them are named colours in the module (gold for Rastriya Prajatantra Party and crimson for Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist). The party colour is listed as #392d77 in the article, but there doesn't seem any source for that (though I'm hampered by the fact that I can't read Mongolian). Probably someone used a colour picker on the party flag? If there isn't an officially stated party colour I think we're meant to use the default as stated by the documentation.Liu1126 (talk)04:55, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I dont know where the current module came from but it is clearly nothing like the main color the party uses. Just take a look at their official facebook account or their 2024 election posters.
Thanks- if anyone has any better ideas I'd like to hear them.
The only other example I know of a party which has changed its colour isYamina- in that case editors have put the new colour into the template and just put the old colour code in manually where needed (#CAD93B), but this is not a feasible option for the Liberal Democrats given how many articles would need to be updated.Chessrat(talk,contributions)22:20, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Bit out of my jurisdiction here, but would version number be better than year? Not so much to allow for the extremely highly unlikely scenario of more than one change in a year, but more pertinently in this case perhaps, to avoid the implication of an effective cut-off date of 1st January. That is how the LD change has been implemented so far, although the change was actually announced at their conference on 20 September 2025. Using a version number rather than year would avoid confusion if the change were implemented part way through a year. Presumably, the version number (or year if you like) would be an optional parameter and only used for the second and subsequent versions, so that its omission defaults to the original colour. Also, for more on how and when to apply the change, see related talk topicTalk:Opinion polling for the next United Kingdom general election#Liberal Democrats Rebrand.78.145.178.233 (talk)07:32, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
With the way the module and its data are currently coded, the exact method ("year" or "version") doesn't really matter (I've though of at least two ways to do each)but it would be much easier to code by year; once you get past one or two changes, was the colour you wanted version 2? Version 3? Version 5? I'm not entirely convinced this is an issue that needs solving (though I do understand the concerns raised at the RFD) but from a purely technical perspective I don't see any issues with making this change.Primefac (talk)22:26, 2 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The party color templates for Scottish Liberal Democrats (2025) and Welsh Liberal Democrats (2025) have been added to Module:Political party/S and Module:Political party/W respectively with the same colour code #FF6400 as Liberal Democrats (UK, 2025). Something else is missing, though, because both still display the old colour #FAA61A.2.101.245.0 (talk)23:41, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Description of suggested change: For Latvia's Development isn't using #FFDD00 since the end of 2023. However, based on their webpage it appears that they use #f2f2f2, #000000, and #003399. Since yellow isn't used anymore, it might be better to change it to blue #003399, or maybe light gray #f2f2f2.
This template must be followed by acomplete and specific description of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please changeX" isnot acceptable and will be rejected; the requestmust be of the form "please changeX toY".
The edit may be made by anyextended confirmed user. Remember to change the|answered=no parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. This is so that inactive or completed requests don't needlessly fill up the edit requests category. You may also wish to use the {{EEp}} template in the response.
