Mark Sorenson (softball)

New Zealand softball player

Mark James SorensonMNZM (bornc. 1968) is a former New Zealandsoftball player and currentNew Zealand men's softball team coach. He captained the national side, theBlack Sox from 1989 to 2001, and again in 2004, and led them to three successive ISF world championship wins, in 1996, 2000, and 2004. He retired in 2007.[1]

He attendedNaenae College.[2]

In the1998 New Year Honours, Sorenson was appointed aMember of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to softball and the community.[3] In 2010, he was inducted into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame.

He was inducted into theNew Zealand Sports Hall of Fame at the 2016Halberg Awards.[4]

Mark Sorenson is the Central Region Manager for AWF (2016).
