Lazaretta (Greek:Λαζαρέττα), also calledLazaretto (and alternatively spelledLazareto), is an uninhabited island close to the northern coast ofCrete in theAegean Sea. It is located near the city ofChania and administratively, it is within the municipality ofChania, inChania regional unit.
Lazaretta is a popular destination for swimmers on sightseeing boats from Chania harbour.[citation needed]
