Lanthanum(III) telluride is an inorganic compound, one of thetellurides oflanthanum, with the chemical formula La2Te3. Lanthanum(III) telluride is prepared by oxidizing a mixture oflanthanum, tellurium andsodium carbonate at 400 °C.[1] There are also literature reports on preparing lanthanum(III) telluride usinglanthanum(III) chloride andtellurium as raw materials. In the reaction, tellurium is first oxidized to +4 oxidation state, and thenhydrazine hydrate is reduced to −2.[2] Various phases such as CuLaTe2 and Cu4La2Te5 can be formed in the La2Te3-Cu2Te system.[3]
